Which 650/65 38 tyres to choose?

It's a rare event for me to have to replace any tractor tyres, but the original fit Continental 650/65 38's on my JD 6830 have started to crack on the inside and will soon need to be swapped.
Looking on-line I can see some tyres have the prefix IF or VP and claim to be able to run significantly lower pressures. Has anyone got experience of this? Any advice on which brands to go for or avoid would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Won’t it all depend on what work the tractor does and perhaps your farm soil type not to mention how long before you upgrade...to a new Fendt profi plus?

There will be others with more info than me
Conti's aint the best id say
Trellys/Michy v similar BKT cheaper but nowt wrong with them to be honest.
There is plenty others all somewhere either side of the 3 ive just mentioned.
If its Value for Money id go BKT out of them 3
Agreed, nothing wrong with BKT on the road or field. Ive had some on 50k towing good loads from another unit of ours 25m away, 2/3 loads a day, 20/30 days per year and still getting about 3500hrs out of them, same as the Michs that were on before

The fronts gave out first on the same size contis on my 6930. One started leaking were there was a shallow cut on the outside of the sidewall.
The one downside to BKT was their rolling circumference is very large and with them on the front and the conti rears the lead ratio would have been way over 5%. The tyre choice available locally at the time were BKT, Michelin or Mitas. The Mitas were the AC65 rebranded and as far as I could tell no different to the contis, which had cracked up premature. So it got Michelin tyres on the front.

Less than a year later though the rears cracked up too, so it has ended up with Michelin all round. If we had decided to change them all at once in the first place it would probably have been BKT instead.

BKT are what the tyre fitter recommended as a good replacement. But Michelin do the Xeobib which they claim can run at much lower pressures. This would be a big plus for me. BKT do the Agrimax V-Flecto. I'm wondering if that performs similarly to the Xeobib? This tyre business gets pretty complicated when you start looking into it.

We have Trelleborg on our 6830. 6500 hours under heavy loads and still more then 50% left... But now they start to crack. I would buy them again.

We have Trelleborg 1060 vf tyres on our Valtra but I would of chosen Michelin ultraflex if they were an option. The Trelleborgs were expensive but at low pressures they don't seam to flex nearly as much lengthwase as the Michelin so you end up with quite a large side ways bulge which I think is asking for trouble as well as a smaller footprint.

Apologies for hijacking someone else's thread..... what are people's overall opinions on BKTs? Comfortable ride? Decent grip? Longevity? Subject to cracking?
Eyeing 650 65 42s for a tractor but have no experience with them

That kinda depends. You need a tyre with a suitable load rating, not just a high one. If you get a tyre with to high a load rating they simply will not give a big footprint with little load.
However I see your point, maybe look into 710/70r38 so you might keep the same rim and go a bit wider. Obviouly you'd need to change the fronts aswell.
