Stuck between a couple bulls to use been looking on semenstore and I like Ampertaine inferno, Foxhillfarm Irishman, Grahams Unbeatable, Gallaber Leo, Trueman Mozart, Whiskey Infinity, Anside Bobby, Bailea BMW, Swarland Igolo, for black replacement heifers, also like Glenlivet Singlemalt anyone any experience on his calving? Iv had Charolais stock bulls and there hard calving. I’m also going to be using Doncombe Aga-Khan and Blackwater Ainsley (both blondes). These be going on 2nd to 5th calvers mostly 3/4 blue and 1/2 lims. If anyone knows any good other bulls please share thanks.

Have a look at Silverwood Mark (we have his full brother), Bridge Elmo, Glenvale Harry and also Ark Diego, Seaview Barney and Stonelea Inzagi if using on cows. Also I'm hearing great things about Hashtag and Glacon from France, they would be more suitable for heifers.
Are you wanting to breed suckled calves to sell? Or finish the progeny yourself? Or keep heifers back as replacements?

Iv around 100 to A.I then will put the bull in to clean up. So I’d be looking for around 5/6 bulls to use. Most calves would be sold to local butcher or sold through the ring. If heifers are decent they would be kept. I like the look of the blonde just read so much bad things about them and why there not popular. Wouldn’t mind trying a few tho as the butcher does like them.

Hiya Danny. We've tried loads of different AI bulls before sticking to a stock bull eventually because we grew too big on the pedigree side. We've just sold our senior stock bull, he was so reliable, good natured and bred us some belting calves. Our commercial customers love his breeding and we have made many repeat business customers because of him. We are high health testing and are johnes risk level 1 so I would probably look for blonde breeders that have a good health status to start with. The problems you have heard about blondes are an ancient myth- The breed has been in the country over 50 years and has changed a lot since the first "crazy blondes" that first started us off. The French 'type' of blonde that came into the country has evolved and had now contributed to making the British Blonde as it is. Please don't listen to the bad stuff before trying one out for yourself- At least through AI if not a stock bull. Let me know if you need anymore information 😊

Thanks for that! Some good to know information! Out of interest how many cows do you run? Pedigree/commercial? And how many stock bulls? Was there a reason why you sold your senior bull or just coming back onto his own? Iv been looking for a blonde bull to use but there seems to be none up in Scotland. Which A.I bulls have you used that have worked for you and which haven’t?

I really like the look of this bull! Is he well bred? I feel he would be wasted in a pedigree herd tho, would maybe need to get a few pedigree heifers.

We have 50 calving heifers/ cows and we are majority pedigree blondes with a hand fl of lim/ blue crosses. Sold senior bull because we've kept too many of his daughters so making it too difficult. Belting bull, be hard to replace. Our mate Billy Laird has a blonde stock bull for sale at the moment. If you're looking for one, he's up in scotland- look him up on Facebook. We can't buy from him because we are in a health scheme and he's not at the same level. Also Alan walker is up near you and he has high health. If your on fb message me and ill talk to you about A.I bulls.

That’s impressive amount of pedigrees they must be doing the job for you! How do you find the lim compared to the blonde? Yeah Iv now that problem with my previous stock bull hence I want to try A.I. Have other stock bulls but they don’t come close we have 160 suckler herd. Fancy getting into pedigree breeding as a hobby. Have you another stock bull now? I don’t do social media I just find the time for this! Ok I’ll look into those breeders too thank you.

Used to have a blonde bull, he left cracking calves.only issue was they got hammered for not having enough fat cover.might be an issue if your putting them over BBx cows.

In the day and age of diets and healthy living, isn't this a good thing? If you talk to butchers about selling the products, it actually sells really well because of this- There's just enough coverage to have a good flavour but not too fatty that there isn't enough meat to make a decent steak! I've talked to many butchers about this and they've all agreed that the blonde breed is good for this but because of the stigma, it is never discussed... blondes are like a guilty pleasure ☹

He os very well bred and was a Junior Champion at the Great Yorkshire Show which lead to his sale. I am currently using a half brother as my stock bull and replaced this bull for Richard a couple of months ago as he has been so pleased with the temperament and quality of offspring.
