Buffer tank, into which part of the milk can be pumped, before it is pumped into the ordinary tank. A tank which may allow milk collection independently of the milking schedule. It is placed between the milking system and the ordinary milk cooling tank. The milking system may be automatic (AMS) or conventional.
A Premium of 0.20ppkg may be applied where a producer has entered into and at all times complied with the terms of the Independent Collection Agreement

To comply with Arlas every other day collection and anytime collection bonus i would like to put in an outdoor silo, 20,000litres.

I know that muller, gea and liscarrol make them anyone else to get a price off?

We have a large ice bank and do our ice building at night and pump the ice water around the tank and would like to do the same so kust need a silo we can run chilled water around.

Do they all do silos like this?

Lastly anyone care to hazard a guess as to the cost, so i can brace myself before i get quotes?

Try Diesenvale Engineering ,an Irish company they put in a few 15000 litre chilled water jacketed silos at a small dairy I used work for. Seemed a tidy job

My ROKA doesn't wash well, i have to clean it manually quite regularly and if you buy a ROKA you will be dealing with one of the worst companies in the world.

Have you got a price on a new Serap from Chris Daw? He's Exeter based and much much better to deal with than SWR

All our neighbours use them and seem to get on well with them, but neighbour did say they wanted £1100 for a conversion kit to 3 inch outlet
Will try Chris daw,
Anybody got a serap bulk tank?

Here so far ,priced a Fabdec,Rokaand De laval.Currently have a Japy 6k.
Fabdec,mid range price,dealer RMS,heavy service costs.
Roka,high price,dealer SWR,poor reviews here.
De laval, lowest price, service washing by Dairy Care, good firm, refrigeration unknown but could use local firm who care for the Japy and are very good on service and pricing.
Probably De laval, about £2/l,but also need 3 phase (currently burning out capacitors, wiring and main 100 amp fuse) £20k and new dairy.Waiting for next SPG window to open for a grant hopefully.

Yes put in a 8000 serap about 18 months ago. Well built tank, cools well just had a small problem with the inlet valve for the wash water but a bit of that is down to my low water pressure.

What about fullwoood? The make some excellent quality tanks. We have been very pleased with our new fullwood icebank tank and it seems nice to use a UK tank company for UK milk?

Fulwood is owned by zeeeeee Germans now.

I worked on a farm with a Fulwood tank and you couldn't have paid me to have it. They had all sorts of problems with it and they dumped the milk a lot of times. Dealer and Fulwood had no interest in helping in the end a third party built a new control box for it.

OK, lets leave fullwood then.

I can certainly recommend Liscarroll - very good people and they offer very accurate and helpful advice over the phone if you have a milk cooling problem.

www.liscarrollengineering.ie/

They are an excellent company and they make very good quality tanks and silos of all sizes and types. The best bit is they can supply top quality basic manual control systems which use future proof basic electro mechanical time switches and valves which are available off the shelf from anywhere, so replacement parts are cheap and you are not tied to a dealer with extortionate prices.

Buy a tank as supply only direct from Liscarroll and then get your local fridge man or woman to do the gas. You wont get a cheaper new tank solution than that.
