I don't discount anyone's point, we calve all of our heifers at 22-24 months to a Simmental every year, but I can think of plenty of bulls that I wouldn't want near a heifer.

I think anyone who is realistic can accept that although there are easy calving lines within a breed, there are difficult lines in pretty much all breeds too.

Breeding cattle is no exact Science, that's for sure!

You sometimes even have to give Lincolns a helping hand! I have about 30 cows and have used my aid three times in 2 years. By the way cracking calf Hesstondriver,Shame its not a Lincoln!!

Just an update, these 5 were A.I.'d to Genus Limousin bull Conan this morning.
Fingers crossed they hold. Will probably try them with a Lincoln next time.

Scanned these 5 today, all in calf, 4 to first service (synchronised) and 1 second service. Really pleased and looking forward to seeing the Lim calves.

Just to update, these heifers all calved with not too much bother, 3 heifers and 2 bulls. Both bulls needed a little pull but heifers were probably a touch too fit. Really pleased with the Lim calves (Conan).

cheers @Guiggs, I'd recommend Conan but I think his semen is getting quite limited now. As said I did give the 2 bull calves a little pull but it was always going to be a fine line when calving the heifers at 2yo, between growing them out well enough and them being too fit

They look,smart! We use Conan on ped Blue heifers sometimes and they do calve well and nice shapely calves so far!!

Nice calves, I've used Conan and now he's gone I'm using Hamlet. He is easy calving as well.
