Xero or quickbooks - both cloud based. Pros - Almost zero worry for needing a workable backup, can be accessed from anywhere, including accountants office.. Cons - Requires a half decent internet connection, still often a delay in pulling data up and down.

Xero - ~£22 / month
QuickBooks - ~£15 / month

Both have their idiosyncrasies..

For a PC, almost anything low ish end will run the software given its cloud based, but buy a 22" or larger monitor so you can get plenty on the screen, so much easier.

My copy of Quicken 98 seems to be about to give up the ghost so I've been on the look out for a simple replacement. It is against my instincts to buy any software that insists on being rented with monthly payments! I'd just about given up hope when I found Jiosoft. http://www.jiosoft.co.uk/features.php

Anyone tried it? Price is within budget at £35 (for ever outright purchase) and it appears to be a Quicken lookalike. But then maybe it's too good to be true?

Xero is good.
There have been rumours of QuickBooks stopping support for the UK package for over 10 years but it hasn't happened as yet.
They don't develop it as quickly as the US version but I would have thought that will have changed with their new cloud based versions as it's likely to be all one version worldwide.

I use the cloud based Quickbooks and I find it excellent.
