Which Dash Cam?

Got a Nextbase 322gw here. Seems good and easy to use. Get one with a screen on then you can play things straight back and see if its still working alright. Your better paying a bit more and getting a decent one, thats my experience with them anyway.

I have Ddpai and Goluk discreet cylindrical dashcams. Three in all. I prefer the Goluk but Ddpai are more popular. They do not have screens and one of my Ddpai and my Goluk model don’t have sat nav either. Never missed that feature. They do not have screens and screens really are so 20thC on these things which work far better by connecting through Bluetooth to your smartphone for setting and reviewing footage and downloading to your phone or pad if you like, without removing the necessary mini-SD card from the camera.
These are reasonably priced and more than good enough. They can be wired to the supplied cigarette socket transformer or direct to a USB point in the car, if you have one spare and convenient. Or that can be wired directly to the car’s system, either to a permanent live or one that switches with the ignition, as desired, using optional hard-wire kits which cost almost nothing. These also have remote buttons that also work on bluetooth that you press within a few seconds of an incident, in order to protect and preserve the file from a few seconds before to a few seconds after the press. The button can be stuck anywhere convenient within easy reach of the driver’s hand, on the dash or on the steering wheel even. No wiring necessary for the button which uses a key-fob battery.

That’s funny, I had one, don’t remember what brand but bout £300 (for work vehicle) highly recommended. And it was a pig, constant memory card problems, would turn itself off unannounced.
replaced with cheapy durite from Spaldings catalogue last year and it’s been fine, never missed a beat.
edit: it was a roadangel which I had previously. It had turned itself off quietly prior to 2 incidents where the footage would of been useful: firstly a car overtaking and striking a tractor turning right, and secondly when my truck was rolled and written off.

I'm on my third and the same as you turning off not recording or looking for the card to be formatted even if it was done 24hrs previous.This one is only 3 months old and the same sh1t is happening. I have a cheap one in my sons car plug and play no issues. .................................. ..........

NextBase here, on both vehicles. Local Garage supplied and hard wired mine in. Disco has the plug in cigar lighter fitting cos OH doesn't mind wires trailing..

Think there was something on here a while ago about some memory cards not working with certain dashcams. I had terrible bother with Sandisk cards in my previous dashcam (road angel) not being recognised, I thought it was lack of memory, but made no difference. The durite one with a card also bought thru Spaldings has been spot on.

Tesla is the only one I know of that has it built in, using surround cameras. Yes, it certainly is time that it is built in, especially since a high proportion of new cars are bristling with cameras anyway and may well have SSD drives built into the dashboard to go with their infotainment/control screen/monitor.
