Which filter removal tool ?

As title used to have a chain one which was restricted in which filters it could get on and has now disappeared, hence the question

We have one of these...

....Plug a 1/2" square drive ratchet in it and away you go. For awkward, long distance ones you can extend your reach with some extensions - sometimes saves you having to be directly under the filter and getting a neck full of oil.

I have two sorts one is a double chain loop it is very good but doesn't go around large filters I also have one that is an adjustable strap it will fit anything also it is easy to put on it some situations like the one yellowbelly shows, I used to have one that was a chain on a handle with a hook that was a load of crap.

Think mine is half one end and 3/8 the other. Had a Snapon version that for some reason was much better

I have this set - there isnt a filter they havent been able to remove even the JD trans alloy canisters that just seize up and the plastic collars for the fuel filters.

interesting topic i have worked as a truck mechanic for many years and have still not found the elusive one too fits all for filters on old machinery access was good but on newer machinery everything is crammed in . i think Hard grafts post sums up my arsenal of weapons of choice for filter removal and goweresque home made remover i have one very similar but the box section is much longer around 2ft in old money but works very well without the need to add extensions .

I Use a length of chain with a bolt welded to it ,have a couple of different sizes use socket and ratchet to undo it

oil filter strap set

I have a set of these, but IMHO they're shite,:poop: have broken 3 repaired 2,:facepalm: last one just got launched,:banghead::stop: now just want a decent set :) what do you lot recommend :geek:

Chain wrench here, an off the shelf number that fits a 1/2" ratchet usually, but did have to use this patented version to get the Hyd filters off the combine this year:

Does anyone use the cups that fit on end of filter then put a 3/8 or 1/2 drive ratchet on.i bought a set,maybe 20 to remove a filter on a thwaites dumper and use them for everything now and nothing has stopped them yet.
