Which gasket sealer

Hi,
Which Loctite sealer is best where a gasket is used between two machined tractor gearbox castings. I used to use Hermitite red but have run out so thought i would ask.

TIA

This, or 510 or 515 etc between castings, only goes off in an airtight gap. Sets solid and even things like trumpets stay on when you take all bolts off, they need a good whack or shake to come off!!!

I use Bondloc B515 which is a cheap loctite equivalent. BUT only on bare castings that dont have gaskets, i don't use it on a gasket because if you use it on a gasket it is not adhesive so as you assemble the gasket squishes out the joint unlike the 5923 which kind of works a bit like impact adhesive, once its dry you assemble it and it sticks like sh1t so the gasket stays in the joint.

Yes, forgot to add the bare castings bit. Hardly ever come across anything with gaskets now!! It’s either sealants or an oring

Just make sure you use the right stuff as per maufacturers spec, I had to rebuild a john deere powershift transmission twice because I used the orange loctite not the red, and I wasn't the first fitter to make that mistake, which made it all the worse as I had been told.

Sorry to hear that, did it just leak from the flanges? Its odd that it made so much difference?!!!
