Which growth reg are you using on w.barley?

Crop had 1litre ccc plus 100ml moddus mid April. Good crop, needs some more growth reg now.

Last year agronomist recommended 0.8 of adjust (fancy ccc, and expensive!!) plus 0.25 of ipanema (cerone is another name) which is ethephon.

What is everyone else using?

Can I swap the adjust for normal ccc? Any pros and cons?

TIA

First application 1.5 L/ha 75% CCC at GS 30 followed by an application of 0.75 L/Ha Terpal + Activator 90.
I like to apply the Terpal as early as possible after GS32 but before GS37

All on KWS Cassia

0.4 canopy on the barley. Always seem like a safer option.
1.6 chlormequat on the wheat.

Works well here.

Tempting to leave it out but they are rocketing now.

Haven't needed Terpal for years.

Some mixed information here.

If you use chlormequat earlier on at GS 30 or 31-2 then you'll need to follow it up with ethephon/mepiquat. The chlormequat will shorten the straw lower down but it will compnesate by extending the internode distance later on, known as "bounceback." Sometimes you can be no better off if you do chlormequat only in winter barley! The crop will double in height between now and harvest so bear that in mind.

Chlormequat needs to go on early depending on the label. Usually pre GS 32. Terpal/Cerone type products need to go on later but must not hit the ear (or run down the awns to touch the ear). As for whether you need PGRs and at what dose is down to variety, growth stage, fertiliser, fertility etc etc.

@Grass And Grain - consult your agronomist immediately. It's all well and good reading this stuff here about what to use or not to use but ultimately it's your crop.

Always read the label for what you are going to use before proceeding. Advice on the internet is worth what you paid for it! :D

@Sonoftheheir are you happy with freeze? What's the price saving over modus?

@Brisel always been happy with terpal applications until awns showing usually apply here at 'paintbrush' timing!

So our volume pgr programme this time. 0.15 modus and 1.25 CCC applied at t0 and t1 timings cost for product at both applications, £15.82 a ha
We will apply a litre of terpal at paintbrush stage! Costing £11 /ha (using last years price for this!)

So total pgr programmer £26.82 an acre or using our 5 year average £2.47tonne

This is on volume, pushed with high rates of nitrogen, interested to see what others are spending per tonne produced for a realistic comparison

(Edited as I forgot to convert Ac and ha!!)

You either have a seriously expensive chemical supplier or you are confusing hectares and acres. £11 per acre for Terpal
