They are 13 and 14 month old roughly. Put add on line for them befofe hand but no interest. This was them few days ago. The 5 on their own are here and few in first picView attachment 1035137View attachment 1035138
they don't look so bad as all that, how much do you think they would make per head going by your last sale ?

As for which to buy hard feed for, if forced to buy it for one or the other I would feed the lambs,
that said I would probably sell the heifers rather than buy to much hard feed at all or buy some silage for them depending on price but I would still turn them out and feed them outside, if the weather is nice they will grow better with the sun on their backs IMHO.

Have most fields spilt at least once with electric fence. Moved 3 batches this morning so have 12 paddocks without any animals. 3 paddocks where sheep moved off are ate but rest have regrowth on them even if it’s a little
I think you have really answered most of your questions TBH.
Once you have to start speeding up the grazing to feed the stock it gets to be what I've heard termed "the death spiral" because it delays the time it takes to recover when rain (or whatever is limiting growth) arrives.

15 paddocks is not really many for one group, let alone 3 groups - as I'm sure you're well aware your farm gets very much smaller once you can't rest the pastures enough.
This how you can be overstocked while understocked IYSWIM?

They look a lot better than I was anticipating from your description. I'd have thought a summer at grass and they'd be looking fine. Disregard what I said about selling them straightaway:ROFLMAO:

They look well, not what I was expecting. If it was me I'd turn them out and try sell mid summer. Got to be worth £950 at least later on in summer. Must be £700/£800 bracket now? Hard to tell size though
Going by Current price From yesterday they’d be worth around the £500 mark. The biggest one I sold yesterday and it made £660 and similar sized ones to those made £470

I was extremely disappointed by what the sold ones made. I felt they looked good but buyers mustn’t have agreed

Not sure what else can do to slow them down. That’s why I was considering feeding the lambs or heifers when they get out eventually to try slow down their grazing abit. Under stocked comapred to the System I have over this part off the world. Fields just shocking poor after years off not much care

I should say to I was pleased with how they had grown myself over winter. It’s the disappointing reward at sale day that’s cause my worry. They got 1kg meal all winter And when they started to eat grass well last summer

Sounds a bit on the cheap side, but suppose it just depends how they look on the day compared to others. They're a good trade round here at the moment. Are there any other auctions you can try next time?

I always get auctioneers out to have a look before i sell anything. Gives you idea what should make and ammunition if they dont

Most are similar round here for prices and trade. Think just wasn’t my day on Monday. Have wait and see when sell rest. I’m abit unsure about everything now

I agree. It definitely didn’t help. Last time I listen to a calf dealer that’s bended the truth before. My own fault for listening to him
