Starfire itc receivers and the original starfire domes signal Stop jan 21. So you either have 3000 or 6000 to chose from personally would go with a 6000

Unless it is “fell off the back of a truck” (and we all know where those actually came from!) cheap, then you're far better getting something more current and well supported to extend the useable lifetime

“....effective Jan 1, 2021, Starfire ITC GPS Receivers will no longer be able to receive the SF1 or SF2 corrections required for machines to Autotrac. ITC receivers will still be able to show coverage, document, and be used for sectional control (in some cases) using the WAAS signal. This was not a decision made by John Deere or INMARSAT (the company that provides the bandwidth for our SF1 and SF2 correction signals). This change is happening because of a government satellite update where new satellites broadcasting the L5 signal are replacing the older signals. The hardware inside an ITC receiver will not allow it to receive the newer data. Starfire 3000s and 6000s are not affected by this change.”

Thanks for help everyone, is it likely that you could buy a system and update the receiver and the rest of it still work?
thanks

Wonder if this is related to,several instances of large scale fleet thefts of Greenstar equipment lately??
Is there someone with a passion for obselete receivers or will there be a large insurance claim somewhere ( What you mean we have to replace them all with the new type ??) or am I just being synical in my old age.....

thats a fair statement to make! sadly its due to people that steal to order rather than insurance fraud
Surely the receivers are no use to anyone though, surely once they are Powered up they must be immediately traceable it s GPS after all , or can they be wiped and reassigned

I was told by dealer technician, that only rtk antennas can be traced without an extra transmitter mounted under the yellow hat.
As robt said, it is only a receiver.

An RTK receiver usually reports its location to the RTK correction signal source. At the NTRIP caster I can see where my tractor drives. But if the antenna is stolen and the thief reconfigures the receive for his/her caster, the thief can see where my antenna operates, not me. Does not help a lot when trying to get the device back.

Would be very simple to make the receiver actively report its location to the actual owner (one time configurable settings) every now and then but I'm not aware of any product having that feature implemented.

As i understand it, the dealers in DK put transmitters under the hood on request, as it has been a big issue with stolen equipment for several years here now. They also offer lockable mounting and pin-lock on 6000 antennas now. They still get stolen though.

Fair enough but I was just commenting on the RTK receivers reporting their location topic.

The pin-lock sounds like a good approach as long as thieves get familiar with it. The others help when the thief is not that bright. Unfortunately hackers these days tend to be able to revert devices like these into their virgin state.

I am not familiar with the tecnical side of how it works, i just wrote what we where told at a training day. They said that stolen antennas could be operated on sf signals and never be found, but that it was possible to track them, given the right circumstances, if they where using rtk. What you say makes sense in that regard.
they put stickers with “pin lock” on antennas now. I don’t know how much it helps. Whoever is taking them has to be aware of this, to make any difference.
