Which Knapsack Sprayer?

Away to buy a new 20l knapsack. Any glaringly obvious preferences between diaphragm or piston pump knapsacks?

Prob going to be a Cooper Pegler CP3 or a Solo 435. Like the look of the Stihl SG range but the biggest is 18l

TIA

It might not suit what you want to do, but I was very pleased to put down for good my 20 lt knapsack sprayer and pick up a Micron Herbi cda lance.
Spraying at 10 l/Ha means you don't have to carry much water about.
Might be worth a look. Would also be much more effective if coupled to a decent sized knapsack.

Less filling and more efficient

The beauty of the Micron is that you don't need to carry anything on your back. Put 2 lt of chemical mixture in the bottle, screw the lance on top of it and you can cover 4000 m at 0.5 m spray width.
No pumping either. It just relies on gravity and some batteries to spin the spinning disc.

Don't buy a Berthoud. I did and I regret it. Yes you can get parts which is just as well as it breaks down.
Had a Cooper Pegler for years with no problems, just wish I had bought another.
Rant over!
What have you had break?
I've had mine 3 years and no problems so far. Feels much nicer than a CP on my back.

Same here, I keep one Herbi with the 1l. bottle for walking about of an evening, and another one with a 5l knapsack for more serious sessions, but these days I usually need a sit down before I can empty a 5l.

One that is comfortable. Nothing worse than carrying one that cuts into you the whole time. The CP I have has nice big padded straps on it.

Cooper Pegler and Berthoud trademarks of Hozelock exel group. We find that customers once they have had a Berthoud never go back to a Cooper Pegler. Also find very few problems with them. Berthoud would get my vote any day.

We had a nomix sprayer years ago when they first came out (as everyone round here seemed to have) but I don't actually remember anyone using it

We had one of those and it was a dream to use compared with carrying 20 l of water on your back BUT it soon quit working.

I do remember some big fiascos with Herbi, almost impossible to see spray mist and there were some hellish wide footpaths through some crops.
