I’ll be following this thread. My son wants exactly the same thing.
I phoned “my cheap laptop” today after seeing them get recommended on another thread on here recently but they don’t have anything with a good enough graphics card to run FS19.

Also, a lot of these so called gaming laptops don’t have a cd drive so how do you play games??

Most modern games are by download, very few come as an actual CD now.

FS19 is usually downloaded from steam. Or Cdkeys.

Sorry I’m a bit thick on these things. When you buy the game it comes on a CD, how do you play it without using the CD?? [emoji848]

You can still get most games in cd form which obviously requires a cd drive, most pc games will now be bought online as a download, this is also the case for Xbox and Playstation consoles now as well, just download the game over the internet, saves loosing, scratching or breaking cd's.

My nephew is wanting a laptop for xmas/birthday to run FS19 and do his schoolwork on.
Budget is £500, whats best value for money?
I dont think you will get a laptop suitable for gaming for £500, unless 2nd hand. Gaming laptops are quite expensive and soon out of date, issue with laptops and gaming is lack of heat dispersal so they get hot quickly affecting the performance of the machine. You would get a much better deal with a normal PC I would think though obviously less portable.

Do not buy a laptop, any laptop, for £500 and expect it to play FS19.

You will need a desktop. A desktop PC does not have a battery or associated gubbinz on board and so you get more actual computing power for your money. It will need to be 64 bit and run windows 10. You will need a minimum of a GTX 650 graphics card, I would suggest you buy one with a Nvidia GTX 1050 graphics card or even better, Nvidia GTX 1060 graphics card (circa £250) to run the game.

You will need a minimum of 4GB of RAM, I would expect any gaming machine to have 8GB of RAM minimum today.

It will need to have an i3 2100T processor at the very least, an intel i3 8100 would be better.

You will need a half decent internet connection to be able to play the game online. If your connection is pants, you will experience lag and it will be pants.

If you buy a low spec PC today, dont expect it to be able to run later versions of Farming simulator that will emerge in the next couple of years. Also, farming simulator is actually a fairly modest game when it comes to performance requirements. If you buy a PC that just about manages to run FS19, don't be surprised to see it have real trouble with the next iteration of Call of Duty or Battefield 19 which are far more demanding.

CDs are old hat now. Most gaming is done via an online gaming portal or storefront, one is called Steam. Another is called Origin. You login to the company store front, click your purchase and the amount is deducted from your credit card. You then download the game via the internet and play it immediately.

It is worth signing up to Steam even if you can't play FS19, there are numerous free games to play and many are indie and quite low in system requirements.

@ollie989898 is absolutely correct. I would also add that if you go desktop you will get better value for money over a laptop with the same spec, more importantly you choose your own monitor and get a nice big one. Much much better for watching your virtual tractors.

I am a big fan of PC Specialist you can buy specific machines for your use, they are worth a call for advice.
