We all farm in different areas with different roads and fields, but no chance I would have another gullwing. Affects balance having all that weight up high too
Yes I’m lucky my grandfather liked cutting down trees. Joking aside it suits us but I guess it wouldn’t suit everyone I liked the simplicity the back fold ones looked a bit weak also but there weren’t many about when I bought it in 2013 expect they are better now

Was reading a old thread the other night when you were looking at buying it and had seen it at cereals!

The rear vertical fold booms might be a nightmare. I've no experience of them. Was a bit of a leap of faith buying it without seeing one.

My gullwing boom sits really close to cab and doors don't open fully because of them. Boom is almost touching exhaust. Chemical drips on my head and on tractor. Saying that they've been relatively trouble free. Was built in 1997.

I've ordered a landquip mounted 28m like this one for my fastrac. Pommier booms are delaying it as they haven't arrived from France. It does concern me slightly the time to fold and unfold having watched YouTube clips of it. 42 seconds on clip. How long does Amazone take?

All the progressive farmers are going 36m horsch trailed.

Ours take 1 minute 20 seconds.

Thinking of swapping our Amazone 28meter 2000L mounted sprayer. Been a good sprayer but only thing that lets it down is the time it takes to fold/unfold. Anyone running a landquip or kuhn. And other make with a tidy folding boom worth looking at.
Amazone best on market should be able to speed boom fold up on valves on manifold at back of sprayer . kuhn bought back sprayer on one farm boom trouble

It’s not too bad if they fold up at the same time. most of the time ours fold at the same time at first than one slows down and stops until the other is folded up.
I think on the new sprayer I will get it so I have a spool valve for each side boom, Can fold them up individual to go round poles. i will time the Amazone this afternoon.

Just get pre select fold on another Amazone if it’s been a good sprayer.
No need for separate spools, just press the button on the control box for whatever side you want to fold in. Added mine to existing sprayer at a year old. Cost £750 fitted by Peter their area man for north of UK. That was 10 years ago now mind but would have been even less as factory fit option.
First bit downtime on mine in 13 years just now. Bottom 5 way ball valve stuck solid on it.

On my amazone sprayer you can alter the flow at each valve with a allen screw, takes a bit to set up but worth it, brilliant sprayer.
The horizontally folding is quick enough for the least 3 sections. It’s the nearest the tractor and the vertical folding up That is slow. Iv adjusted the valves behind the tank and down the boo. but won’t speed anything up apart from the last 3 sections at each side. Plus the fact that one Side fold up before the other side. It’s 7 years old and does a lot of folding/unfolding so might be something internally getting worn.

Our bertoud had speed taps on each pipe of each boom, oddly you had to restrict the return pipe for each stroke direction not the power pipe.

A one way valve in each tap let it have full flow when reversed.

Maybe your one way valves are getting sticky?

Yes I went to cereals to look at an amazone and decided I didn’t like the boom then looked at the rear fold knight decided I liked it better the following week went to the factory but was put off when I actually used it round a field they suggested gull wing would be simpler lighter and cheaper. Our boom is sat very high so isn’t a problem at all for the tractor it’s also wide it doesn’t come anywhere near the doors or flashing lights. I also had it so I can spray at half width on ridge and furrow etc

If looking at changing for new a Amazone was 50% more than a landquip when I was pricing in January.

Landquip more tank capacity. Amazone had individual nozzle control on gps and landquip only 7 section. Sure there were other features that Amazone had and Landquip didn't that I have missed.

To be honest I would rather buy British and had received good backup and experience with current Landquip.

1 side is a little bit slower than the other. Is yours running on constant pumping hydraulics or individual spools for folding? Does a 28m have 4 folds per side?
5 sections on each side. 1 vertical fold and 4 horizontal. Would have been better with 3 horizontal. Ours booms are operated with one spool valve.

We are looking our first mounted sprayer as well, anyone tried KV/Vicon? We have a dealer nearby and thought they looked quite smart, vertical fold 24m...

Also, we think a front tank would be a useful addition for ballast and extra capacity, would we want to spend the money on a proper integrated one or would a third party one do the job? Am I right in saying, an integrated one will empty at the same time as the rear tank, whereas a third party tank just carries additional water/or mix and you manually pump it back to the rear tank?

Empty rear until at level of front, then open tap ,they should empty as one.

Leave tap a bit longer if you need more balance.

This is with a largish pipe joining bottom of front tank to pump suction pipe at rear.
We had a front pump too, useful when using front as clean water.
