We are looking our first mounted sprayer as well, anyone tried KV/Vicon? We have a dealer nearby and thought they looked quite smart, vertical fold 24m...

Also, we think a front tank would be a useful addition for ballast and extra capacity, would we want to spend the money on a proper integrated one or would a third party one do the job? Am I right in saying, an integrated one will empty at the same time as the rear tank, whereas a third party tank just carries additional water/or mix and you manually pump it back to the rear tank?

I looked at one before buying my Amazone. Two local farmer friends had one. Neither recommended it and both have since moved on to other solutions.
if you are going mounted I think it really does come down to a choice between Landquip and Amazone. Have been delighted with my Amazone, only regret is not specifying two boom height sensors on each side rather than just the one I have. Typical result of penny pinching when ordering 🤣🤣

Think the Amazone has a few options for pumping back to rear and it can be filled as one mix.

Landquip has to be done as 2 separate mixes. Both tanks 1900 litre so won't have to work out 2 mixes. I drove a trailed sprayer with a front tank and I just started pumping back when 1k litres out of back tank. It was 4k litre on back. Wasn't a hassle.

How much more money in less knocked down crop would a mounted bring you over a trailed?

I genuinely don’t understand this point. The wheels of a John Deere trailer sprayer follow in exactly the same wheelmarks as the tractor pulling it.
Compared to a self propelled a tractor runs more crop down becuase it doesn’t have 4 wheel steering, but the difference between a mounted and trailed is nearly zero.

Probably not that much in reality but where I think they score is reverseing into corners easily I see a few people with trailed tend to go straight round a few corners especially the ones that aren’t exactly 90 degrees under dosing the outer boom and that’s where bg tends to start

I have a third party one, pump it back with a hydraulically driven pump. Advantages are we can a different product in the tank and also trim the front tank levels to suit conditions, neighbour has a Vicon and it looks well but I have stuck with Amazone.

I have a Vicon ixter 1600 ltr here just a backup now but was main machine, nice machine to work very accurate rate control etc booms are quite good although mine are a bit battered now as Christmas tree spraying figured in workload for a while and every ding was doing trees never really gave any bother hence it’s still here but tbh I would look at landquip like @Chae1 has bought

chae, if your tanks are both the same size you don't have to fill as 2 mixes. 1/2 fill one tank, add all your chems, transfer 1/2 of the mix to the other tank then top up both tanks with required amount of water. you can do it the same way if the tanks are different sizes, just have to work out the correct proportion of the mix to transfer to the second tank. probably teaching you how to suck eggs. :)

No, not at all. Grateful for any advice

Sprayer I used with front tank before you just tipped chemicals directly in front tank.

aye the trouble is that all the containers need rinsing etc so just as well to use the chem filler. it was certainly quicker tipping them into the tank. progress eh? 🤔

The horizontally folding is quick enough for the least 3 sections. It’s the nearest the tractor and the vertical folding up That is slow. Iv adjusted the valves behind the tank and down the boo. but won’t speed anything up apart from the last 3 sections at each side. Plus the fact that one Side fold up before the other side. It’s 7 years old and does a lot of folding/unfolding so might be something internally getting worn.
My Amazone is quite slow to fold up, but it’s a good well made sprayer.
I suppose if they are too fast they are more likely to damage the ends as they fold in .
