Which mower conditioner?

Hello All

I’ve been reading posts on here for a long time but this is my first

I’m trying to decide which 3 meter mounted mower conditioner to buy, we cut around 300 acres a year and also use the mower for topping of which some of the ground is a bit rough...

Claas 3200C most expensive
Krone 320CV £750 cheaper
McHale £1,750 cheaper than Claas
Vicon 732, £2,000 cheaper than Claas

Any advice would be much appreciated

Being used on 110-140hp tractors.

How big a tractor is being used as some 3 MTR mow- co's are very heavy and really try your tractor and linkage .
My class 3050c would be lighter than those you list but gives my JD 6125r a heavy jolt when folding in either direction.
I have heard of several twisted NH/ Case cross shafts on side mounted mow-co's.

Claas will be the lightest option on on the linkage for but is still very well built

Claas is narrower than the krone I think it's the same as the McHale the vicon could be wider as well

What do all the contractors use around here Claas ,
What about a claas 3150 c same bed but not center pivot , considerably cheaper
Or

We have a fella 3060 mower conditioniner new to clear £8000.00

Very good mower & well built.

Krone would be the strongest built, last longest, best disc protection system on the market and probably among the best cut with most aggressive conditioning.

The Krone would also have one of the strongest residual values vs some of the other brands listed such as McHale and Vicon.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I am leaning towards the Krone to be honest, although the Vicon is a good saving £...
@mengeleguru i never considered a Fella, or a cheaper version of the Claas, I’ll have a google

The Krone is extremely heavy! Would be worth a demo before you buy. It seems to put a horrible strain on the linkage.

That is the Claas mans main selling selling point against the Krone, it’s too heavy....and the Claas has better resale value.

The Pottinger dealer suggested the McHale as he isn’t sure he can get a Pottinger mower co in the next few weeks, I see quite a few 1-2 year old McHale mowers for sale which makes me a bit nervous...

Vicon (in kubota orange) here. Model 628 so slightly narrower. 3rd season and not a problem yet. If you’re not going to sell it for 10 years then residual value isn’t a problem.
Mowing at 25kph yesterday in lighter grass and not a problem. Silage, hay and topping duties

I’ve got 9 ft cut mouted jd mower with spreader kit, built well good conditioner and not crazy heavy on hills on links. Makes really nice job even in heavy crop with 125bhp.

At sales I always see loads of clapped out vicons and krones( often not megga old), out of your choice I would prob go Claas

I’m just a bit concerned about whether the Vicon would be as robust as the Claas, Krone....McHale look well built if nothing else

I’ll get a price for a Claas 3150C

No I haven’t looked at SIP and haven’t ever seen one

I had a price from Chippenham Farm sales that was very competitive for the McHale, but like you I wonder why there are so many available secondhand.

Ernest Doe have really got behind the SIP brand and I'm lead to believe that they have sold a fair bit of their kit.

I think I’d probably need the SIP to be quite a bit cheaper to consider it, I’m not saying there is anything wrong with the mower but I expect it would be worth quite a bit less than Claas or Krone secondhand. I expect to keep this mower for a long time but things can change so I want a machine that I can sell relatively easily for a good price if I want too
