That’s my thinking in going for a Toyota, don’t really like the look of them but they do seem to hold their value well.

already got the BASC discount in with the price. I think a basic white one with no tow bar is just over 17 and a half k . All the little extras keep adding up when I could probably find a 3/4 year old one with tow bar, canopy, load liner and not white for not too much less .

If your buying and plan to keep it long term, then it looks a good deal. As said above, basic spec wont sell as well if you plan to swap it in a short period, and in reality there are very little basic spec pickups sold new now. It’s mainly utility companies that buy this spec.

Not a huge fan of Modern Toyota’s myself, generally think they are overpriced for what they are, many of the competition offer better spec and more powerful engines, but no doubt that they keep their value, and ghey have somewhat of a cult following. Even 20 year old rust buckets make £2k on a good day.

I’m willing to bet the emissions from my 3.2 auto ranger are actually lower than an auld mini or moggy pickup.

To be honest I’ve taken my Ranger on holiday this week and over the last 500 miles or so it’s averaged over 30mpg. I do believe it’s actually the most economical vehicle I’ve ever owned as far as motorway travel is concerned.
Oh Drillman, you've forgotten about the Triumph Acclaim! That thing must have returned near on 50mpg (or more) at motorway speeds. And it didn hang about. Harper to Yorkshire land speed record.

I'm looking at a Q7 and a Toureg. I've found that I don't really use the pickupy bit as much as justifys one. I'll hook a trailer on if I have to. Pickup sales have gone mad.

seen 15 plates advertised for fair bit more than that. if its in good nick and reasonable miles £15k+vat is about right
Meet too. And I know it's in step with the current prices. It's just very strong money for a car that went into production 17 years ago. It's pretty much the same money as a 4 yr old mitsubishi warrior. Im just checking myself before I take the plunge

ive a 15 plate invincible, its much better built than any l200 regardless of age. i know they say hiluxs are getting softer but the 1KD engine is seriously tough by modern standards. 20 years time people will be saying how tough the "good old" mk9 hilux was

Unfortunately they rust as bad as any other so have a very good look underneath and if you find and buy a tidy one don't be frightened to spend some time/money getting it coated/treated.

Looked at 3 or 4 so far and none of them are clean enough that I would be happy to spend over £10k one. Not seen a 15 plate yet though so I have higher hopes, even though she doesn't necessarily matter with regards to rust. Hopefully it's tidy and I can end my search and stop scrolling endlessly through auto sales websites.

Yes you need to get it painted underneath whatever make you buy, chassis paint is one area the new Hilux are far inferior to the old. I say paint as I don't find waxoyl performs very well, though lanogard is supposedly a bit better.

Is it true you can get them upgraded to legally to 3.5t?
Yes it's more common than you might think

Am I alone in thinking this pick up job is bloody mental, kicking on 40k for a machine that needs painting underneath…..they are taking the p*ss.😂

Yeah it's obscene tbh. Toyota quite shamelessly exclude the Hilux from their corrosion warranty, makes you think it must be deliberate especially when there are 25 year old Toyotas going around rust free, if they could paint them that well back then then why can't they now
