I am considering purchasing a 3mtr or slightly narrower (medium/Heavy Duty)offset topper,to cut some paddocks of our own but also to offer a contract topping service ,for topping overgrown(brambles /15mm dia suckers) small paddock/large garden areas. I want an offset topper that will be "really offset",by that I mean it will be only cutting grass etc that I have not driven on,as I do not want wheeling lines of uncut grass etc springing back up. The mower needs to fold in line with the tractor for transport. Any suggestions appreciated.

You want a banking/verge mower.
More money than a conventional topper but the the only things that will work fully offset.
Similar to this. Plenty of manufacturers to choose from like this. Muthing, Kuhn, KRM would be my choice.

Votex, Bomford and McConnel also make a simpler one that just fold up vertical for transport and down to the side for work.

Many thanks for reply with pics.If any of you use the above, have you had the headstock fail due to leverage of mower being offset, pulling against one side of the headstock,if that makes sense!

Like most machines they won't fail in normal use. I've bought and sold maybe a dozen such machines and None have been welded on headstock.
It idiots going too fast on the road with the machine bouncing behind that kills machinery.

We've had an Agrimaster FN for getting on 20+ years. No problem at all with the head stock, heavily built, clean cut and shes had a hard life and the mower has been excellent. Only failure was one bearing in the gear box but didn't take long to swap it out and I do allot of ruff mowing often hitting boulders (big ones at that) and happily take out a six inch trees. Also great for hedging/ditching and mulching wood in general if taking down a big tree just drag and pile up the branches for me to deal with. Use ours also on very steep land as well so the offset and weight makes for stable platform.

Gearbox is better located than the one pictured above. The only difference is our one has a rear opening hatch, the latest model doesn't appear to but perhaps optional extra? I don't often open it but its good for rushes etc stops the flails bogging down.

We got ours on recommendation from a friend who worked in the Council at the time and used them heavily.
