Which plough?

Im looking for a plough to go behind a TED-20 grey fergie... I real beginner for plough matches though.

I have been looking for a while for a fergie plough mainly to restore but im being put of by the high prices. It seems that although they were once lying in every hedge on farms, they just aren't about anymore (mainly due to the price of scrap).

So what other ploughs would be worth a look (better value for money) as the ferguson name seems to be pushing the price!

Pretty sure that's a Ransomes, looking at the bar point with a coil spring, UCN-BP bodies perhaps? Might even be SCN, and should be easy enough to get metal for. I'm not a match ploughman so don't ask me if it'll be a good enough plough for that, and whether a single-furrow would be ok... Can't see a Ferg lifting anything bigger, first ploughing I did was with a TEF20 and single furrow Sellar

There is a class at most ploughing matches for T20 Fergusons with their own plough so go for it and save some money. It would be a good entry to match ploughing and you would be competing with similar outfits governed by a strict set of rules.not too many adjustments you can confuse yourself with but a good starting point fora beginner. It is also a nice light outfit to transport to matches.

If your serious about competing, unless you want to stay in a minor, one make, class, do not buy a fergy plough. They are only competive with others of the same make. From your posts, you dont have much to spend, so you need to spend it on the best equipment you can find, a ransomes with YL183 bodies will not be cheap, but its the only plough you will ever need to buy.
