Currently in the process of updating our OSR drilling setup and looking at changing seeder units.

Have used a Techneat v2 on and off for the last 8 years with varying amounts of success and wanted others opinions of the good/bad out there..

Specific things like ease of calibration/ accuracy/ flexibility (can it handle large variations in seed rates).

Sumo, Stocks, Opico, APV, Bullock Tillage.... plenty of names out there and some of them charge mega.££££ but is the price justified...

Stocks wizard and an old type sumo here both spot on for rape seed

I've heard very mixed reports about the new type sumo

What do you mean by old type Sumo and new type? Metal hopper or plastic hopper? I liked the look of those with RDS box and quite local to us for backup etc..

The old type is like a stocks the new type is very different with a separate distribution head and a white hopper

Worth a conversation with OPICO or your local HE-VA dealer. The NEW Evolution Rape Seeder combats all of the challenges to good OSR establishment. Available in 3m, 4m and 5m working widths, the Evolution Rape Seeder incorporates all the technical developments that HE-VA and OPICO have brought to the subsoiler seeding market over the past 10 years. The Evolution Rape Seeder is designed to ensure the crop is given the best possible start. August sown OSR looking really good.

What's the new bullock one like to calibrate? I had a read through the manual of the T15 and it said you had to put all of the pipes in a bucket or sack to collect the seed. To me that's a royal pain in the ass and put me off it.

I’ve got an Opico air 8 E seeder. Works very accurately but not been without its issues.our tank wasn’t sealed so had that done under warranty which was left looking a bit messy then the paint started falling off within a year. Was supposed to be taken back and resprayed but lots of promises with nothing happening. Have had a slug pelleter from Bullock Tillage and they were great to deal with and top quality so I’d be going there if I got a replacement

Can't help with the bullock seeder but you will find all the information you may need here http://products.opico.co.uk/opico-products/arable-machinery/variocast-seeder/ alternatively get in touch with your local OPICO dealer for more information http://products.opico.co.uk/dealer-finder/
