Travelling at 10kph -12kph we use Guardian air GA03 125 - 150 litres/Ha water rate nozzles for most applications with the exception of the use of Flat fan VP04 150-200 litres/Ha water rate on small targets.
Am I correct or is there now a more proven jet to do a particular application better.
All views and advice appreciated

Looked at this recently and came to the conclusion that the best all rounder is still a flat fan for higher water rates and slow forward speeds so we’re staying as we are.

What you’ve got there is good. I use 025s and 100 l/ha to make each load go a bit further.

Do you get the nroso booklet? Lastest one chucks all that flat fan stuff out of the window, hard to know what’s right, get told this and that on a weekly basis these days :banghead:

I’ve got it but it’s not out it’s plastic wrapper yet;)

Is the article written by their usual go to chap from syngenta by any chance?
The one who developed the Amistar/Guardian air nozzle.

We use VP04 110 on everything.

Replacing 48 nozzles isn't a cheap business nowadays and the price of the flat fans is the only price that doesnt leave me reeling at the counter.

They work from 1 to 4 barg so plenty of flexibility for droplet size, speed of travel and water volume.

Most other nozzles seem to be expensive one trick ponies.

There’s was some some good obvious stuff in there, but mainly I think she said flat fans are the devil. I think we all already know boom height is critical, I think she said air inclusion is/was the answer to most. She wasn’t a fan of high water rates which I found interesting after these last few years.

I'll have a look later. Syngenta changed their stance to backing 90% drift reduction for pre ems at higher water volumes that were turning up in watercourses. More droplets of a bigger size (but lower concentration) would be the result of that.

Cereal crops except for desiccation I would go Defy 3D or GA.
OSR up until podding Defy 3D or GA.

Potatoes or anything bulky like OSR desiccation which you want complete coverage go for a Flat Fan as it the droplets get thrown EVERYWHERE including up under the potato haulm so increasing the efficiency coverage against blight - you can’t beat a FF with a wind for blight spraying imo.
