I'm looking to get a handler to do wrapped square bales of haylage, so just wondering what's out there, best types, recommendations e.t.c?!

Is that the one that acts like a pair of hands each side of the bale, or the over the top one? My dealer says they don't do the over the top one anymore??

I quite like the look of the quadrogrip, but at 418 kilo am I going to have to stick a weight on the back?! I don't really want to do that as will be unhitching and hitching trailer between collecting loads. It will be on a jdeere 6125R.

I would take a very close look at the Albutt F450

Has anyone seen the handler from SGM engineering.? Or got one? Has paddles each end that slide over spikes, so can be used for both. Looks like there would be quite a lot of weight/pressure acting on the base point of the spike?

I've got 1 here, really like it, we make 5.5ft haylage mini hestons and the arms open just wider than the bales, I think there is another set of holes for the ram to make it open wider but haven't looked too hard. Came in very handy when I broke my bale spike as you just undo a collar and slide the tubes off, it can nip tight enough to carry 2 bales of haylage if needed as well

I had a Quadrogrip on both a JD 2850 and a 6400. Both of them shared a 640 loader ( quite a big loader on a 2850 ) and neither needed a weight on the back.

SGM grab will do the job and does round bales and straw. A lot cheaper, lighter, and easier to use than a Quadrogrip et al. It does not compress the bales breaking the plastic wrap seal, instead it wedges them like an archway keystone because the arms pivot and self adjust sideways to fit snug against the sloping ends of a bale.

if your stacking unwrapped round straw/hay bales with the f450 or quadrogrip type squeeze, what stops the netwrap being damaged when you stick one bale next to the other and reverse out? or does this not happen?

I just thought if you had 2 bales in close as you pull the machine out wouldn't the arms scratch against the net wrap? If your using spikes the bales are placed, no damage as spike in middle of bale.
