Which Telehandler?

We've been running Manitou telehandlers for 20 hrs and never had a major problem until the 741 400 v+ arrived! A year on, 2 machines later courtesy of our dealer and we still have the same transmission faults, hydraulic noises, lack of power on road and a useless cab aircon and filter system which sits right behind the front wheel drawing in dust all day. No support from Manitou and wondering what next any suggestions? Have heard there are plenty out of 741 v+ out there with the same problems. Have we been unlucky?

Not heard of any these problems.

When you say hydraulic noises do you mean like air cavitation type noises?

On the older models it's quite common and the cause is often a knackered pilot accumulator supply valve dumping oil back in top of tank above the oil level which air rates it.

Not many dealers are aware of it imo!
I suspect they still use that same valve on the new ones cause they been using it for the past 20 plus years.

Yes, exactly, the noise sounds like air cavitation when you steer, lift etc. and sounds horrendous on the road when going up hill or anything other than level ground. It won't work a whole day and is hopeless when the oil gets warm. Both machines we've had have been the same.

Its air in the system, it may be the pilot valve block like i suggested, or its something on the suction side of one of the pumps.

And yet it is the dealer in the UK making the profit, employing teams of staff and carrying spares for you, and it's all in the UK? Should JCB be stopped from exporting anything then to make it fair?
Thats fine so long as the JCB has the same HP and similar price. Farmers are very pro imports as it means they can export their produce. What they arent pro is the un level playing field.

Don't be daft. I believe 100% in a free market. I also believe that we should be patriotic and support domestic industry wherever possible.

I doubt JCB get much of a look in on French farms?!
 
JCB may be assembled in UK but a significant number of their components will undoubtedly be imported ....


Do you mean to suggest Sir, that a British company, operating in Britain with British workers, would be so dastardly as to not use British axles and other components, manufactured in Britain by British workers using British steel, British rubber and British copper?

What kind of imperialist trickery is this?! Enemies of the state, the lot of them.

Well my 741 140 v + is the best loader I ever had, I have never heard the engine struggle until the other day when I was running up a steep hill on wet clay at 40K, but then most machines struggle driving up that bit.

People also forget not so long ago manitou bought thousands of perky engines made at peterbough and thousands of gearboxes made at Wolverhampton🤦‍♂️ it's only when CAT got involved that's all changed!

Of cause theres also some parker hydraulic parts too on some manitous still in production that also have made in England written on them!
