Which tractor.

If you were going to buy an older, 200hp ish tractor, just to sit on the plough or combi drill to save swapping implements around at drlling time, what would you buy that would possibly turn into a bit of a classic, so not depreciate much.
Would need to be comfortable, but not many bells or whistles required.
Wouldn't do many hours a year.

How many hours would you trust, or is it more about if it looks tidy it'll have been well cared for.
At the moment I run a 2013 T7200, which I start ploughing with, then put the drill and press on, so not wanting to faf around taking it all on and off again, I stick the plough on the McCormick 130hp, which will pull 5 f, but slowly. I also use her for rolling and spraying, so thought a big old bus would save me swapping stuff around as much.

We bought a 6499 in the summer as an 'extra' tractor. Had done 6400 hours and has a few minor dents and scratches but I love it! Simple enough to jump on, ours has 4 manual spools and no datatronic, dyna 6 is quite good once you get used to it.
Pulls like a bloody train and reasonably comfortable. Only problem is that it's currently having a new water pump fitted.

Did you consider an A frame for some kit?
Allowing you to kick a third tractor down the road until you find the one you want.

T7030/40/50 would do the job nicely, would be very similar to drive/operate as the 7.200 so not difficult to swap between daily. If you can find a good one they are capable of doing many hours work and sensibly priced to buy. We’ve had a few ‘would be’ classics in the past, 8340,tm165 etc but would rather have our current 7030’s any day.

Possibly, but the press and weights get swapped as well as combi and plough. I like to plough a field and drill the middle before ploughing headlands if possible.
Nearly got caught out this year, as ploughed alot of ground, headlands and all, which then got wet.
Sometimes get someone in to plough in front as the season goes on, after maize, but could do it myself with another tractor that might also be useful at harvest time, and maybe an investment!

Neighbour had one of those. Seemed to plod on day in day out with little fuss.

The engine is doing way below it’s design capability at 8100 power as it the transmission - same lump ended up well over 300hp in later models and combines and was good for 1000hp in marine applications

The smaller models were rare as well as most bought a 8400 so definitely future classic material
