I used Fuchs because I could buy it at trade price, I can never figure out how
Morris sell any oil the price they charge , perhaps that's why there is dusty Morris drums at wynstay
Don't use much now

I've used Fuchs, Morris, MF, NewHolland, Petronas and Midland. All in either 10W30 or 10W40 viscosity. I don't use the cheaper 15W/40 viscosity because I feel it is just too 'heavy' when cold and it doesn't usually meet the same performance specs as 10W versions.
The last Petronas 200 litre barrel was bought at a reasonable sale price through Certas. I nearly ran out the other week and needed to change the NH gearbox oil and the only oil available at very short notice was Midland in 25 litre blue drums. It took 75 litres iirc.

It depends very much on where you purchase each brand as to how much they are discounted. I often find that ACT sell Fuchs cheaper than the 'trade' price through the large South Wales trade distributor.
A few weeks before the Midlands oil purchase I bought a couple of 20litre MF engine oil drums, which is basically blended and packaged by Morris of Shrewsbury.
As long as the oil meets both viscosity and performance specs that I require, and as long as the brand is reputable, I really don't care what brand I use. I have only bought one barrel of recognised brand oil that I thought 'WTF is this shite?' because it looked and smelt off and that was Texaco lubricant. Many years ago.

its not anything remotely like what account holders pay or sell at.

Interesting... I could locally find some 20W/30 for my fleet of David Brown stuff, it does well with them. I found that some others cause more leaks consumption, and more engine fumes.

Problem is, I doubt i will be able to get it locally any more, searching tinternet shows small quantities at eye watering prices.

Trouble is how do you know if a brand if reputable or not? Our local supplier switched from q8 oil which i was confident was reputable, to rock oil, who i had never heard of. Had a few barrels off them and seems ok, how do you tell?

You can't without some research. If in doubt, don't buy it. Plenty of brands to choose from. Far too many products available from each brand too. It's potentially a minefield.

Morris website prices etc are done by a distributor & aimed mainly at the general public & car enthusiasts etc

We are a supplier of Morris oils & with bulk discounts etc and discount because we have such a wide range in stock this is why we & many other distributors offer very competitive prices.

Note also most internet prices include VAT

Interesting list of oil manufacturers

obviously we are a different market & I haven’t heard of most of those oil brands, but I was surprised that BP didn’t make the list.
I would have thought BP, Mobil & Caltex / Chevron would have had a fairly major international presence, along with Shell ?

As far as I'm aware, BP in the UK only sell car oil to consumers in their garage forecourts. I've never seen a barrel of Agricultural BP oil ever, that I can remember.

Chevron is available in the UK but its shared branding with Texaco.

wow - BP is a major supplier of oils to Ag & heavy equipment here

I changed brands after the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico years ago, but before that all my farm oils & greases were BP
