Which waterproofs?

Would the Kaiwaka stormforce stuff be good for a hill farm, lots of walking on wet & windy days. Or would it be too hot? I was considering the Stormforce Winter Jacket and the Bib, maybe that's overkill. There's no sitting on quads or tractors done here. Tried the Guy Cotten stuff before but I couldn't get on with it, found it very restrictive, ripped it anyway! Mate of mine has decent gear but I just can't get hold of him this morning to ask what it is.
Personally I wouldn't go for the winter jacket or bib and brace if doing a lot of walking. I have the standard parka and leggins (admittedly betacraft copy not genuine kaiwaka) and find it plenty warm enough - you can always add/ drop under layers.

they are very breathable, but reasonably heavy, esp when wet. But not restrictive.

If I'm gathering the cliffs though I'd stick to a lighter set of waterproofs.

When it's very wet here I'm not on machinery at all - it just starts ploughing - so I'm up and down the hills in this kit, standard parka and trousers. Unless it is very cold, I just wear shorts and a shirt under them, any sort of work is enough to keep me warm in them, even when they are soaked. I'd not go for the Kaiwaka winter stuff, just have different layers for myself.

Think kiwi kit kicked off a bit so everyone had to follow prices up or so I’m told

What’s the difference between the kaiwaka stormforce coat and the winter coat?

Think the winter coat had tails on it so more suited to just the trousers. Personally I find the storm force more than warm enough but then I feel the heat easily. I’d go as far as saying if I couldn’t be warm enough with it on and a jumper or two I shouldn’t be outside in it.

I bought the Kaiwaka Stormforce jacket and over trousers, on the strength of recommendations on here. Had them for a couple of weeks now, very pleased with them. I’m pleased I didn’t go for the bib and brace, there are so many walkers round here that, when you need to pee you have to be very quick!!

I have the regular stormforce jacket and regular pants and find them very good. It's good hard wearing material. The jacket is a decent length and keeps the wind off the lower back. I think the winter jacket would be far too warm for walking the hill unless it was a bitter cold day. I got my set from Gregcare in Donegal, I noticed the prices have gone up a good bit in the 3 years since I got mine.

I need low budget clothing as I end up tearing it . Whilst having a tidy up I rediscovered a Barbour Bedale waxed cotton jacket. I tore the sleeve years ago, sent it back to the factory for a proper fix, and asked them to lengthen the sleeves by 2 inches to meet up with gloves rather better. It’s waterproof and the corduroy collar stops rain running down my neck. I had forgotten how good thornproof waxed cotton can be even allowing for the necessary smelly session with a hairdryer to rewax it occasionally.

I can 100% confirm kaiwaka won’t tear... was seriously scared too spend on the bib and brace and I got hung up on a barb wire fence at the weekend and never left a mark on the leggings but managed to cut my f**king leg 🤦🏻‍♂️

I'm just going to break the bank and order a Kaiwaka parka jacket, can't get to try one on for size. Can anyone tell me how they compare size wise to a flexothane jacket, I always wear a medium in those

Thanks

Just to give some feedback as I wrote the original post. Very impressed with the kiawaka parka jacket, used it through lambing at the turn of the year it was warm during the night shifts but not restrictive (though I probably took it off the lamb any ewes) and it was very very welcome when moving the electric fence on the field of rape while it’s been peeing it down all winter long!! So impressed I’ve just bought the bib and brace to replace my flexothene ones.

I am probably a large or extra large in flexathone and I bought xl jacket and bib and brace. The bib and brace has plenty of room.

Thanks for that, I've just ordered a large, don't know when it's coming though apparently there's a container load on it's way from NZ that's been held up in Singapore for couple months.
Have ordered one from APsupplies who've just started selling them, she's put me on the list

I am sure I saw Cae Gwyn farm supplies in Llanwrda (well nearer Caio actually) do them (in Agri Trader advert), if they do, why not nip over and see if you could try them on there?
