Going to build a shed approx 105ftx 30ft plus 8ft canopy over feed . Now due to very steep terain on a ridge running north south I will have to make the shed long and narrow to keep costs down . Now the site has been made but cut and fill and so the west side faces directly into our hill which rises probably at over 45deg for 60ft above floor level , the east side has 45deg drop of fill for about 10ft then the natural slope of the land which is semi steep on down to valley bottom . So question is do I have open side of shed into prevailing wind which is west but largely protected from the hill , or do I have open side on the east , which will be fine for most days but a complete nightmare a couple of weeks ago ?

i have a shed running north to south and open to the east as you have realised 99% of the time the weather is from the west its only bad snow that comes from the east so I take the attitude its better for the majority. my troughs are at the back of each pen and the pipe is ducted and just comes out the ground and into trough, 1 bucket of hot water got the troughs going on 1 day, the day before only 1 trough was frozen! I think the 4 were only frozen for 2 days (got going in not much time each day)

what about digging the bank out a bit and setting shed into it? might not be quite right to load panels that way put 6" panels double loaded inside the steelwork?
