Which weather forecast?

I look at the pressure charts and judge for myself. Been correct mowing when I have been doing that the last few years after believing rain that was forecast would arrive and it not arriving.

Hi all

hoping to mow in the coming week but all the weather forcasts say different!! Which do people find most reliable?

Not sure where you are, but looking at the Charts tonight it looks more likely that the areas that have so far missed all the rain might actually get some this week.
Low pressure coming in and storms brewing from France.

we are Near Buxton in Derbyshire and have had our fair share of wet the last few weeks! Meant to be brightening up this week!!

how do you do that?
Just go on the BBC and on the maps lower down the page, look at the pressure chart, the more spaced the isobars the more settled it is likely to be, best when a high is around but with a low like the one that's around this week there might be showers but not a lot imo. I have one field about ready to go, will probably do it later this week.

The local BBC 14 day forecast used to be quite good at one time; but only a fortnight ago it was predicting wall to wall sunshine throughout June and into July. Settled dry conditions with no hint of rain.

A week later it was all change, and showers were creeping in now and then. Since then this local forecast has been all over the place, changing from day to day to an extent that it has become totally and utterly unreliable.

With all the millions that has been spent on weather forecasting in recent years it seems that we are no nearer than we ever have been to reliable forecasting for more than just a few days at a time. Disappointing to say the least.

At the moment by Friday there's a Ridge of high pressure heading up from the southwest,

By Monday the high looks to be getting into a good position for next week to be good.

Its not always right, but no forecast is. I watch the trends of the forecast, and know that the rainfall quantities predicted usually drop as the days reduce. Failing that watch a few and draw a consensus.
If all else fails, find one that says what you want to hear and stick with it!
