What was the chemical?
they are magnificant animals imo.We had this bird stay on the farm for a couple of days over lambing last year, it was incredible to see. There are a few of them who have fledged off the Isle of White and come over to the main land.
Ficam D, internet says it looks like it’s still availablebendiocarb
The low 1.25% concentration formulation of bendiocarb remains available but the 80% one got pulled.Ficam D, internet says it looks like it’s still available

Does anyone know what it's used for/ in?bendiocarb
According to google it’s for use against wasps and ants indoors .Does anyone know what it's used for/ in?
Yes, it sounds like an organophosphate.According to google it’s for use against wasps and ants indoors .
Sounds like something used in the pest control industry rather than agriculture, I can find no reference to it being banned as in the thread title

They get up here too---make the Buzzards look like Sparrows !We had this bird stay on the farm for a couple of days over lambing last year, it was incredible to see. There are a few of them who have fledged off the Isle of White and come over to the main land.
I believe it is banned in Scotland and the EU and the 80% version has lost its authorisation but the 1.25% powder is still available for bee/wasp/ant control.. The bird allegedly had 7x a lethal dose in its system so one imagines that would require the strong stuff...According to google it’s for use against wasps and ants indoors .

if accurate I would think it would have required a pretty concentrated dose. I am curious as to what chemicals are routinely covered by a standard toxilogical test in these kind of instances. For carbamate to be include in tox screening one assumes its not the first time that chemical has killed wildlife?7x does that rule out secondary poisoning?
