Who can supply and install 4G internet?

Can I use any mobile sim card in a LTE router, to provide broadband with a mobile signal?
For example, we get a great EE signal from the mast, only 450 m away. Could I use a Virgin sim or a Plusnet Mobile sim, as they both piggyback the EE network?

Depends if your router is "unlocked "
If it was provided by EE it will probably be locked to EE.
If the router was bought seperatly it will probably be "unlocked "

I have not bought a LTE router yet.
Any recommendations will be gratefully received.
Why are mobile sims for home router use, more expensive than mobile sims for phones?

Something like this would do the job. - make sure you buy an "unlocked " one then you can put in whichever sim gives best deal / service
TP-LINK TL-MR6400 WiFi 4 4G LTE Router w/ Embedded SIM Slot (300Mbps N)
This one isn`t compatable with external antenna ( it says ) but you say you have a strong signal so not an issue.

Havn`t looked at sim prices lately so don`t know

Currently paying £29/month for my EE unlimited sim. Worth noting that EE don’t differentiate between phone and data only sims-Mine will work in a phone too, but the calls will be charged for, I believe. It’s in a Mikrotik directional aerial on the roof of the house though, so unlikely that I’ll be popping it in my phone.

Wow! Just effing wow!
TP-Link router arrived today (next day Prime delivery), as did EE sim only card.
I put the sim card in the router, powered it up and connected to my computer and Wow!
54 mbs Download and 42 mbs Upload.
Usually get 5 mbs Download and 0.8 mbs Upload with landline.
But due to dodgy connections in the copper wire, when it rains! We were down to 0.35 mbs Download and 0.25 mbs Upload.

In that case, I’d better try it! I just need to find a router that has an option for an external antenna just in case. I’m not far from a mast at all. Cellmapper website shows good coverage from a mast 1 mile away so sitting the router in a window facing it should be enough.

If you're not careful Brisel, your internet issues will be catching up with my pita Post Knocker issues as I still haven't been able to get that sorted 😁

At least you will be able to get it sorted - it really is simply plug and play what you are going to be doing (y)

Best thing I ever did.

We're geting 40mbps on an unlimited data plan with EE Business. That's about 20x faster than we were getting on the landline. £27 per month plus VAT. Three do cheaper plans, but I found them a bit slower and more flaky in this region.

There's no need to pay for an install... I bought a TPlink router, one with removable aerials so I could replace with external. I've not got round to pole mounting the external aerial yet, it's just balanced on a window sill. It's working so well I'm not in a hurry to do the job properly.

am i missing something here are the "Ariel's" on the tp link routers for puting wi-fi out or picking up 4g signal ,i think they are for distributing the wi-fi and cannot see where to put the external ariel to improve the incoming 4g
