currently with NSF and have been since it started, my assessor is rumoured to have retired so I’ve been looking at alternatives.

One friend uses Acouro so I have rung them and they quoted my over £100 cheaper than NSF for the same service

Does anyone recommend Acouro ?
Any comments??
I do yes.

Acoura have done my last three RT inspections, the last two by the same inspector.

I was sent a list of (I think) four auditing companies. I had the most favourable and professional reply from Acoura. They also were on par with one other in terms of being most cost effective.

I found out I knew of the scheme Manager as she also manages the LMS Scotland scheme and the Scottish livestock haulier's scheme

Our inspector is brilliant. She's a farmers wife so knows whats what. Simple things like slug pellet thing, she just asked what we are using rather than lecturing on the rights and wrongs of which product. Our visit takes no longer than an hour. 10 minute walk around the yard which is chem store, fert storage, fuel tank, grain store. Then some paperwork which is ready and waiting. She's been coming to us for many years so knows we are ok so dispenses with the formalities. If she left the job I think we would leave the scheme to be honest.

The man on the `phone` said I was `sexist` because I said not to send the same inspector again:eek::eek:

Well I’m a woman so They can’t use the sexist card.
I think I’ll wait and see who we get...... and then decide wether to jump ship to Acoura or not. Might be out of the frying pan into the fire !!!

I use SAI and we have had 4 different inspectors in the last 15 years maybe but one chap comes more regularly than the others. They have all been fine so far and realistic.

I have posted this before but what the hell!
A new inspector came one year with a trainee and I thought this is going to be a nightmare! Anyway they weren't too bad at all and they were telling me they both had a small flock of around 40 sheep and interested in farming. I asked them if they were farm assured, NO too much hastle.o_O:rolleyes:

I use SAI , had 3 inspectors in 12 years , one did 10 of them and failed me 9 times , told him if you don't pass it this time Chris I'll shoot you .
Passed . that's the way to do it

EDIT , not advocating physical violence to FA inspectors , he had run out of options to fail me on .

I've been using NSF for a number of years now:finger:,just make sure you have no Deter dressed seed left over, just saying ,I'll be changing to Acoura later in the year.
I'm going to be saving a small fortune, with the farms I run.

Keep us informed if you change.(y) because the NSF are going too far.
We’re using NSF on our farm too. We’ve had the same auditor for the last few years.

Always got on well. If it’s not broken don’t fix it.
Good to hear,i have had 30 years farming stood on my own two feet,i have been carrying out approx 200 inspections a year.I would like to think i have been objective and fair, but firm .I would not want to let my client ,myself or Red Tractor down.

Objective Fair and Firm is what we should expect from an Assessor.

Could I ask what is the “job spec” for Assessors ? Degree, farming experience, for example ??

And in the light of Freedom if Information I wonder if the customer ( farmer) can ask to see the statistics of the assessor that they get .... ie if the assessor fails a bigger %-age that average. Etc etc

That’s not an attack on anyone in particular
