Who is REALLY paying for AG Subsidies???......... THE RICH

Farmer in Canada I worked for paid the crop sprayers to fly over his beans a few times one night to stir up the air to stop the frost.

That is something they tend to do in N America. OK if nobody else wants the planes for the same job. Other countries use the frost fans that Cornish tones mentioned above. The idea is to cause sufficient turbulence to disperse the frost, or, ideally, use the fans to pull down the warmer air and raise the temperature enough. Not really feasible on a few thousand acres of cereals though.

food security for the UK is inextricably linked to global production, demand and supply factors. As such, the UK already experiences shocks to its food system. For example, the price spikes of 2008 and a 5.2 per cent rise in the average UK food bill between July 2010 and July 2011.

Who was it that said food security didn't affect consumers food bills??

The view appears to be growing that food is just too important to leave to the market," Professor Richard Tiffin, Director of the Centre for Food Security, University of Reading

Concerns over food security, sparked for many by the price rises of 2008, call into question the ‘hands-off’ approach adopted by recent governments to food production in the UK. While realisation is growing that government needs to take a bigger role in ensuring the security of UK food supply, debate surrounds how and in what ways it is appropriate for government to step back into the food system.

WE CAN CONCLUDE FROM THIS THREAD THAT FOOD SECURITY AND FOOD PRICES TO THE CONSUMER ARE STRONGLY LINKED

What's that got to do with the fact that the rich people pay the subs?
I got lost a long time ago, I just like to stir.
Buggered if I know!:LOL: Just thought your mates comment was bizarre, the price increase in food from non government intervention, probably as a reflection of its true cost and market demand, and now they expect government intervention to control and bring the price down, I don't know but maybe he doesn't like the fact that possibly that food production could be done successfully without subsidies!:LOL:
I didn't realise that you like to stir.:sneaky::whistle:, I certainly don't.:)

They like to believe they have a supreme knowledge, that someone else has not fathomed, just like BF thinks you cant farm without subs and he must do constant threads on it, in the hope, that the thousands of people in the civil service see it and think, you know what, that guy is right, we will make that single mum take a cut in benefits so farmers can carry on being subsidised . :ROFLMAO:

Get the single mum to move in with BF ( live in employee(y)) then remove subsidies, two birds with one stone, win:win situation for everyone!:LOL:
