Breaking news but will anyone care the PMs brother has landed another good job? He'll be able to get his brother a spot when he's done with running the country ( into the ground).

maybe having a brother who is director of a company whose founder has an agricultural estate/interest may mean he gets to hear a little about how things affect farming!

In Wales, probably Plaid?
It’s just a shame that they’re only marginally less nutty than the Green Party in many of their policies though.🤐

I’m told it’s effectively a choice between Conservative and Lib-Dem here, and surprised at how many Lib-Dem posters have appeared in farmers’ hedges locally in recent weeks.
saw a face book video where the Ceredigion Conservative candidate said she would stop this all Wales NVZ stuff if the Conservatives got the majority

At one time you would have definitely said the Liberals or Lib-Dems were the party of ordinary country people, maybe they should look back to their roots. It's a pity Tim Farron was forced to stand-down as leader.
I was leaning towards the Lib Dems in the past, but their blind refusal to accept the democratic decision to leave the EU lost them my vote

WTF does a police commissioner do except cost the tax payer a shed load of cash?
I think we should be voting for chief constable, rather like the American Sheriff, so the Chief Constable would have to prioritise resources on what the public wanted and felt was important, rather than what happens now. House gets burgled ~ crime number issued, Transphobic Tweet ~ Red Alert, high priority!

I have low levels of faith in the justice system generally to be fair and the police in this region may as well be non-existent.

Our police chief candidates consisted of a green candidate, a retired Liberal schoolmaster, a retired Met CID inspector and a retired Parachute officer who is on a panel representing retired soldiers which campaigns for their well being and justice. There is a far stronger attraction to the latter than any of the other candidates and his main aim is for the law to recognise the damage to the victim rather than the rights of the criminal.
The retired Met officer might well know too much and have too many pre-conceived ideas coupled with the fact that the Met has earned a very bad reputation.

But are the posters there with the farmers permission, we have local farmer who has displayed Conservative posters for ever and a day, about 5years ago he had Lib Dem ones up, a few days later I queried his change of allegiance to be told that he had been fly posted by the Lib Dems and they had now been consigned to the fire pile.

Care to suggest why? The Lib-Dem candidate doesn't strike me as someone that farmers would normally vote for. Although your Tory MP comes across as a bit of a brainless wonder. I wonder whether that has had an impact?

The fields alongside the 'A' roads of Brecknockshire are awash with blue at the moment.

I am not in that constituency, but, I am feeling a bit annoyed with the Conservatives, mainly as I feel there is an anti farming undercurrent in the Tory party coming from Boris's Mrs, Carrie and a drive towards all this rewilding malarky. After Dom Cummings said she wanted George Eustace sacked because he was too close to farmers.

Seems like something out of Jane Austin, gaining political influence and power through cohabiting with power!!

What powers/responsibilities does a Parish Council have?
It's not about power, its about responsibility. Will vary from parish to parish but for instance I am vice chair of the PC and chair of the playing field which is owned by the PC so that creates a good dynamic. Then there is the finance committee who sort out applications for funding for various projects using income from the solar parks. We also have a voice when holding our district and county cllrs to account. It's not about power or some glory trip, its about giving back to the community and letting people have maybe a louder voice than they usually would have. Our parish is 2 wards and in ours people really get stuck in and help maintain the things we need to maintain for nothing more than the satisfaction. In the other ward you can't anyone to do anything and all they do is moan about everything being crap.

That said, I do expect there are some pretty backward PCs out there. I think ours is pretty good.
