My son wants to restore his little tractor, my pile of mismatched rusty spanners and short attention span aren't up to it, anybody reliable that does this for other people?

Do you have a vintage group in the area, I’m sure the NVTEC will have a local group.
See if you could get someone or a vintage group to ‘help’ your son, and encourage him, rather than let someone else just do it and your son not learn anything.
Some of these vintage groups are made up of pension age people, and the group will die out without encouraging the younger generation. Not a lot been going on due to Covid, so I’m sure a person or two would be keen to get tinkering again.
Can’t keep my grandson away when I tinker with anything, and his enjoyment encourages me to do a bit more, and I get some priceless quality time with him.
