.....that drove a tractor and 30' trailer from Stoke to Shrewsbury today and didn't pull in once to let traffic past. (That's over 30 miles on a single carriageway trunk road)
All the good PR that so many in our industry do without any gratitude just gets dumped on the roadside when a pillock like this lets a mile+ of traffic build up behind him.. .just because he is busy at work.
Tosser!

Similar, was out tonight in coastguard truck on blue lights responding to people in the water on an eb tide. Met 4 ad trailers …. All on the phone. Guessing they were talking to each other. Got stuck behind one, sat behind directly in his mirror for 1 minute. Blue lights, head light flashes . Didn’t see us. Eventually got past, he was on his phone….. this needs to stop!
Edit, before anyone says. All the drivers were midle aged! Not a raised collar in site

Did he actually slow the traffic?

The lack of respect for blue lights responders from an annoying minority of all classes of road users is just unbelievable. When you're blue lights trained you are expecting appalling observation skills from many but even when observed some just don't yield or use space creation. I've come to the conclusion that there's just a steadily expanding number of selfish cnuts who don't give a sh1t

Of course if it was their child / Mother / wife whatever .....

Its not just tractors
I was on the m8 going to Glasgow about a month ago when a police traffic car came up behind with all the sirens going.
I pulled over to let it past, but there was a van in front of me on the fast lane who just sat there
They must have been stuck there for a full five minutes, pulling out, pulling in, to no avail.
Eventually he must have looked in the mirror and pulled over
Probably on thr phone or earphones
I expect he will get a letter

Not only did he slow the traffic, it was more about the dangerous and risky overtaking that he invited.
The string of vehicles behind him would have numbered well over 50 by the time we got to Shrewsbury

How fast were they going?
Not saying they were in the right but they could have been doing 30-35mph. Isn't the speed limit on an single carriageway 40mph for trucks? So not that much slower.
The speed on UK roads seems to get slower every time I visit. Roads that used to be 60 are now 30mph.

Could be the case in many places but it’s the hills that slow the traffic right down to @15mph . Most Rural A and B roads will be 60 some 50 and odd areas down to 40

35 miles between 2 major towns on a trunk road at 25-30 miles/hour tests the patience. Especially when there's a clear road in front of the tractor but you can't overtake.
A tractor with a 30' trailer takes some commitment to over take. Throw into the mix of people behind, couple of lorries, a caravan, me with a trailer, and before you know ot there's a tail back as far as the eye can see, except of course the feckin' eye of the tractor driver :banghead: :mad:

A tractor and trailer on the road
does not start a traffic queue .
it’s the vehicle behind the tractor and trailer that starts the queue
(As you put it a tosser which will not overtake ) end off.
Granted, but if you knew the road you would not commit lightly to overtaking. The full 35 miles is a fast A road with bad vision at speed
The tosser was definitely in the tractor!

I am not defending the driver the op is referring to, but if there is not a space big enough to get the outfit completely of the road then the driver has no choice but to crack on.

There are also some complete morons holding on to the steering wheel of a lot of the cars/vans on UK roads now. Some drivers who I presume got their licence of the back of the Frosties packet are hellbent on getting passed on blind bends, hidden dips etc, then the other extreme is the driver who has no speed awareness so sits behind on a perfectly passable stretch of road.
