I am just letting him get on with it and picking up the slack which means I'm doing most of the work. The issue is the work that he's supposed to be doing is more important and he won't let me take it over it involves rpa and trading standards but not in a welfare way.

That last sounds a worry...

I was chatting with an Agent today (24hrs before the PBS deadline) and he knows he still has several outstanding claims to complete and that some will not be done for several weeks more! These "difficult" clients, are usually older members of the farming community.... Personally, I'd tell them to shove it, but he says they cannot do that...

Not pointless at all, there’s a fair few of us on here found the love of our lives in our mid fifties and are living the life. If your enjoying life and your job then who cares what anyone else thinks and you can rent it out when you fancy slowing down

Kind words thank you, looking for love/ partner isn’t a problem.. I’m single by choice. Family/ upbringing has shattered my illusion of commitment , marriage and children. I’ve been married to the farming business and now quite aware in the next few years I will pay the price.

Have you thought about making him an offer
for his share?
New car and holidays might be just what he needs .
The trouble is he has absolutely no interests other than the farm. He is physically fit enough to do the work and doesn't understand the paper work but he will not let me do that as well suppose he feels if he did he wouldn't be needed but he isn't actually doing it either

Sounds like you need to have a chat with him but in a way which highlights
the concerns but try not to blame..Your position is untenable at the moment.

I have tried to talk to him I've asked him to let me do the paperwork but I can see that would be the final straw for him he can't do a lot of the work he would not know what to do. I aren't trying to get rid of him he can potter round I just want to be in control of running it so I can keep the paper work in order so we don't fall foul of anymore inspection s

Start by taking responsibility for the areas your more interested in .
Just do it and do it right then theres nothing to argue about.

Don't forget if he's 84 hes old enough to have known
hard manual work so don't be too hard on him either.

I do look after the cows and applying for the passports for the calves. I took the book when my dad died and have done that ever since and had no problems with it when we've had inspections

Many have watched it in their family and upbringing, issues with relationships etc . Me included. It’s about retraining your mind to not replicate what is wrong and to acknowledge the wrong is the first step. Your past doesn’t have to determine how you treat your relationships . That is your choice.

You may feel old but your actually still young. Don’t lose faith because of others mistakes, Live by your standards and don’t miss out on an opportunity to experience life and happiness with someone. Life is for loving and start with yourself.

Its a bit late for this year, but could you offer to take on the BPS claim? It should save a bit of money and hopefully show that you are capable of taking on more responsibility.

I think at the very least you ought to ask if the BPS forms have been filled in. It's a huge chunk of the average farm's profit margin & the penalties are progressive from midnight tonight.

Well it happened have had a rpa inspection 8 breaches movement restrictions applied they turned up to do inspection while I was at hospital with my partner got a phone call from them they were at home talking to him and he told them they need to deal with me. Long story short I've got everything sorted so they are happy and lifted restrictions. Going to do all paperwork myself had a chat between us all with inspectors there uncle agreed to me taking over running. Had a poorly lamb in small croft by house had to pop to hospital again yesterday with my partner came back and the lamb had gone asked my uncle what had happened to it smiled and said its in a hole. I just feel like all I've done the last 2 weeks has been wasted got it all to a straight edge to start a fresh and 3 days in he's starting back his old way
