Probably, hopefully get some FACTs points, want to talk to someone about our dirty water system. grass mixes and fert/muck stuff but no interest whatsoever in the big kit.
There's a serious point here. Back in the 1970's and into the 80's, nearly every farmer had their own silage kit or contractors had trailed foragers. There was an order of magnitude more kit sold every year to every farmer and his dog.
Nowadays it is mainly a game for huge kit that displaces maybe twenty complete outfits that used to need regular replacements, so far fewer units are sold to far fewer customers. Therefore there is far less real interest in these events than there was.
There are still people buying these things of course, so there is a place for such demos, but don't expect the crowds with open chequebooks these days that there once were.
Not far from reality to be honest. It has become a bit of "image event" for the bigger manufacturers and to an extent many do come for day out to see kit they would never need or buy. Not many visitors notice the "run of the mill" machines that do appear here and there. Gone are the days when things like bake wrappers were new and exciting - used to have a bale wrapping arena!! Still HS2 is due to chop off the lower part of the working area so that'll have an effect on the event, but then again with consolidation, maybe fewer exhibitors anyway. Bring back the old dealer demos like the infamous Willis Bros 2 day demo in Talsarn!! Remember them?
Quite right. Every person visiting an event and engaging with stand staff should be treated with the same level of respect.I've found it useful to look at kit, not that i spend a lot but sales staff need to realise that they don't just have to pander the who has the biggest chopper customers !
Umm! It's not a free ride for the exhibitors not by a long chalk! This event has always guaranteed to be working unless it's lashing down with rain. The exhibitors costs cover for the grass whether it's used or composted. it's probably the most expensive working event for exhibitors. At least you can see all the contemporary brands in one place on the same day!!I like to go now and then but it's a bit annoying to have to pay to look at the machinery manufacturers shop window.

Yes indeed, at Llanllyr, just up the road from their yard. I also remember Willis supplying a good proportion of the tractors at the Stonleigh event.
The Gee family don't do much farming these days, having found a better way to make a living

That was the year yeah. My lawnmower cuts more grass than that bigM was cuttingThink that's the year I took my boy before he started school .I Remember he was a bit over whelmed by it all !Still plays with tractors though! I also think that may be the year there was no grass !
I've got no interest in tractors and silage gear myself
I'm going for the free beer and hog roasts plus I've got a job looking after the poll dancing girls on a certain seeds stand.
That'd be @Cab-over Pete s stand
Hughes Bros of Oswestry, are having their own grassland day on 1st June, at Trefonen @Kevtherev
Is it right that he's putting on a free bar there?
Absolutely agree. It's like paying to watch adverts.I like to go now and then but it's a bit annoying to have to pay to look at the machinery manufacturers shop window.
https://thefarmingforum.co.uk/index.php?threads/grassland-muck-2017.169652/#post-3854746Are they charging £20 to get in, then selling burgers at £4 a pop? It won't be worth a visit otherwise.
