I'm hopeful to get another 80 acres in, all ploughed ready to go,

Same here, MrNoo, but ours probably won't be dry enough to travel until sometime in March/April.

That's a bit too late for WW here, so it'll just have to be yet more WO again, out of the heap - @£90/ton = £6/acre.

edit :- grovelling apologies folks, forgot the Royalty payment yet again - have to add on their 50% - makes that almost £9/acre.

ive found a glimmer of hope, the bbc hourly weather forecast until 5th jan shows only 9 hours of light drizzle most of that tommorrow. Among that just 5 hours of chance of precipitation and none at all with a more than 48% chance and some sunshine and breeze. Do you think I should cancel staff time off over new year and tell the drill man that he will have to cancel his ski trip booked for the 4th of jan !!

It will take a couple of weeks for the land to dry out enough to even walk across the top. I've just emptied 29mm out of my rain gauge for what has fallen in the last 3 days.

In 2012 the only half dry week was half term in late October when my drillman was away with his daughter on a pre booked break. I quite enjoyed driving it & it didn't turn out to be such a bad crop either. We drilled as much at night as we did during the day that autumn. Thank God for autosteer as we had no hope of seeing the boutmarker.

Very wet here yet I’ve seen a beet harvester running on some kind land today and someone ploughing on some sticky land. Absolutely astonished.

I watched the latest 'Harry's Farm' video last night, he's joined the increasing number who have given up on this year but will make use of the opportunity to prepare the land for bumper yields next season (his words)
