I may be wrong but I think any wheat sown after Jan 31st is a spring wheat, for the purposes of product approvals. So any winter variety sown after then should only be treated with products approved for spring wheat (?)

Not that these crops will need a lot of chemical input anyway, but if this is the case there's not a lot approved for the spring crop.
If we can drill something in Feb and it goes in a good seed bed sod what's approved and what's not

Othello always did the trick on any wheat that hadn’t had an autumn herbicide . Applied in March and sorted grass weeds , wild oats and broad leaves weeds tank mixed with Optica. My agronomist said it’s no longer available, but has a replacement . I used to think it worked better than the normal autumn residuals

They still make it .

Has it got the same actives @Brisel

Same as what? Atlantis? Yes, but different doses and has DFF in it to broaden the broadleaf spectrum which Atlantis isn’t that good at by itself. Adding CMPP helps too. Othello wouldn’t be strong enough for any blackgrass of any size bigger than a leaf or two but enough for oats and small annual meadow grass.

How do people think I would get on growing skyfall as a 3rd cereal as a spring crop compared to growing spring barley? Surely not worth it is it?
Not for me but maybe different in different parts of the country. What is latest safe sowing date on skyfall? I thought you dd ers liked to drill later in the spring? Wouldn’t be possible with a winter variety?

I think for me to drill anything even if we could (which we cannot), I would need to see that the weather patterns of the last 11 weeks have stopped and at least give it a chance. At the moment I cannot see any evidence of that.

It will be April before water gets evaporating and soaking faster than it falls. It's a rare, rare season when we can go earlier than that. Exception was I think beans in 2009?

This plan is receding quicker than an ice cream on a hot day , be lucky to sow anything profitable now .
Yes it’ll be end March if we are lucky . Crops that have been drilled will need some early N, but when it’ll get it, is anyone’s guess .
