Don't the Scots get big yields as it's cool and long days? Surely were just getting Scotland's weather at the moment.
Still isit has cost us yields on lighter soil wheat was dropping tillers fast
that’s 3 dry yields limiting springs in a row for us now, a long way form Australian extremes BUT the UK used to be the best climate for wheat growing in the world

We are, but in wheat too wet often ultimately turns out to be a lot worse than too dry....be thankful !!!
2012 was horrendous here, whereas the good stuff last year was at least average, if not slightly above, just dragged down by the stuff I drilled in February.Bright sunlight 15 to 20 centigrade is what we need till early July
the low yielding years are wet dull June weather 1982 2012 the worst
1984 was cool and wet April then June had lots of sunny days
yes its pishing down here again now , i think its washed the fert inThis mornings offering so far. Tipped out 8mm first thing. Bloody wet now.

yes its pishing down here again now , i think its washed the fert in
mind you that green flush that we haven't have for a year or 2 in May is starting to show now ,
and as its a bit warmer also grass is growing better ive noticed.
Although i do think fairly recently drilled Maize is going to struggle a bit .
