how hard can heart surgery be ? it's just like fancy plumbing really surely? :ROFLMAO:
Made me think of this story.

A mechanic was removing a cylinder-head from the motor of a Harley motorcycle when he spotted a well-known cardiologist in his shop.
The cardiologist was there waiting for the service manager to come and take a look at his bike when the mechanic shouted across the garage.
"Hey, Doc, want to take a look at this?"
The cardiologist, a bit surprised, walked over to where the mechanic was working on the motorcycle.
The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked, "So Doc, look at this engine. I open its' heart, take the valves out, repair any damage, and then put them back in, and when I finish, it works just like new. So how come I make $39,675 a year and you get the really big bucks ($1,695,759) when you and I are doing basically the same work?"
The cardiologist paused, smiled and leaned over, then whispered to the mechanic.....
"Try doing it with the engine running."

Said it before but i would rather dowse my testicles in petrol and set them on fire than keep sheep.

Well, let me be honest. I really do not like sheep.

In fact I despise sheep wherever they may roam, having yet again escaped from their winter keep down here in the verdant Elysian Fields of the lower Vale of Clwyd.

But in all honesty, I have to admit that I would rather jump in the old Disco and tear off down the road in a cloud of dust to try and head them off before they cause chaos on the east bound carriageway of the A55, before reaching for the four star and causing irreparable damage to my conkers......

Just my own, carefully considered, preference.............others may not concur.

not a available on most of the farm, no new licenses being granted either i believe

even if it was i doubt costs would add up on combinable crops ? its extremely expensive
Lots of things are “expensive”. Government money for irrigation would make uk ag more resilient in the face of climate change. Makes more sense than the ELMS nonsense I have been reading about.

@Clive under this drought stress, what brix levels are you seeing and pH?

I am dealing with Gary White of G A Crop nutrition, (ex farm manager) and we are definitely not seeing drought stress when we normally would, trying to keep the internal pH to 6.4 so plant can access nutrients and not breakdown its own protein in order to survive.

Maybe worth a phone call.

Muck isn't a silver bullet that's going to solve everything in my opinion. We farm light land and do exactly as bossfarmer suggests. Plough power harrow lots of muck. 2018 last dry year was a complete disaster. Still haven't cleared losses from it now. Crops welly boot height. Under 1.5t/acre spring barley not even a bale to the acre of straw. Heston bale.

Farm would be better as a quarry it's just sand and gravel. We don't own it though.

In wet years it stands rain fine. Get good crops.
that sounds like pretty extreme light land, would you have gotten 1.5t without the muck though? is is grassed down 5 years at a time in rotation to build om?
