Why are some dealers utter scumbags!

Back in January 2012 I bought a used merlo of a merlo/Massey dealer in wales, I stupidly bought it with out seeing it, trusting the dealers description that it was very straight and tidy. So many bits wrong with it it, 4500 hours on the clock , looked at least double that with various Agri looking welding repairs done to it . Dealer claimed hours were genuine when I rang them to discuss the matter, although we had it 2 weeks using it and the clock hours didn’t change. Sent it back but lost out on the transport both ways.

Again, it's got to be asked why you accepted it when it wasn't as described.

TBH I think you were lucky the dealer took it back after you used it for a couple of weeks.

I've just sold a mower in an online auction, its was in good condition for its age.
Myself personally I wouldn't buy a machine in an auction without seeing it in the flesh.

It was sold but not one person came to view it.
(Not that there was anything wrong with it)

Each to their own i guess

I would not be parting with money until the machine is in my yard, unloaded (and not damaged in the process) and inspected. People sending on any old tat, that is pure con-artistry.
You wouldn't buy very much then from a distance seller!

Most sane dealers would not load anything unless cleared funds first. I have bought machines on pictures only and not had any major issues.

I remember a thread on here where someone had a machine paid for in there yard but no one would come collect it :ROFLMAO:

worst bit is the inability to contact after sale. Any tidy person would try and resolve the issue.

maybe dealer thought he could sell him a bigger tractor to put it on

If the auctioneer describes it in the same way you would respond when somebody asks you what you think of a new girlfriend leave it be.

yer she’s got a good personality

Are they dealers? I guess they are by definition...but you get what you pay for I guess...I can’t believe how many people get away with ripping people off...£1,750 off a manitou that’s done 2,000 hours more than advertised???
It wasn't even the same machine(,small wheeled version) he thought he was having. It was in possibly in better Nick but coming from 500ish miles away, the dealer was pretty brave I thought. It was in the middle of lambing so he didn't have time to go and see it so trusted a big name main dealer rather than the east Yorkshire bandits

Nothing paid for here until it’s in my yard. Happy to do transfer before taking it off the lorry but NEVER will I pay before it arrives here.

Looked at a sprayer on a indepents webpage a few years ago low hours for it's age excellent condition, phoned the manufacture for some guidance on what to look for, and they serviced it from new for the first owner and there last service was 2700 on from the clock reading 5 years earlier
