Why are some dealers utter scumbags!

It was picked up in the dark by myself at the docks so was only when I got it home the next few days I discovered all the things wrong with it. Dealer was notified fairly quickly.
I made the mistake of believing that a main dealer would be straight to deal with. It was like something that you would of expected out of a Quare Funny used machinery dealership not a merlo main dealer

There are few main dealers I would trust to deal with nowadays.

Almost all main dealers take in used gear as a trade in, ramp up the price and pass it on again without doing anything to it and often offer no warranty at all.

It's no wonder every man and his dog seems to think they can be a dealer when the main dealers have lowered themselves to the same standards.

I find it easier to deal with local dealers which means im putting money in the pocket of the blokes I expect to come and help me out with a broke baler on August bank holiday or feeder wagon on Christmas Eve
Up to a point, yes. Unfortunately it can be hard to find a used machine with the speciation demanded when you only have dealers that sell a limited range in your vicinity.

I will
Pallisers
Morris Corfield
Tallis Amos
Best to stick with who you know methinks.
First and only time(yet) we dealt with Morris corfield we bought an immaculate 14 year old Manitou from chester,100 miles away. No written warranty but salesman said if anything was a problem" we won't walk away". After a week I worked out the head gasket was blown. My brother went up the wall and said there's no way they'll do anything without written warranty but they sent a fitter out next day,had the head refurbed in Telford and came back to fit. Brilliant service and wouldn't hesitate to use them

We find Michael Burdge very straight to deal with. Gets fitters from the franchise to go through said machine before it's sent out.
AND very fairly priced stuff

There is auction starting at brightwells
by online bidding and no prior viewing
at all for obvious reasons but is not good
In my view auctions are different as they are selling the lots at face value, it’s up to you if you bid or not.
There is meant to be some trust in a dealer providing as service of supplying good machinery

Yes, it's either a wonky old Ford 3600...... or something newish with an eye watering price, and nowt inbetween. And from the posts above, we can see what happens when you buy an ex livestock farm telehandler in West Wales.......:nailbiting:

We recently bought a NH autocommand, from away, as you are definitely not going to see one round here.
Regarding local telehandlers, one local unit managed to bend TWO booms on 320s!

Had a bit of new kit off Western Farm (Knighton) recently ,great to deal with ....had nothing go wrong so haven't tried the 'aftersales' yet .
As in earlier post Morris Corfield (Hereford) very good and Frank Sutton (Raglan ) very good and competitive on JD parts .

Agreed big time . He really knows his stuff . Considerably cheaper than other local JD dealers . I find all the people at Frank's very helpful . They will do their best to help you over the phone .

Another vote for Frank Sutton. Don’t have any JD kit or any other kit they sell, but a few years ago at the RWS, both my young sons were given T shirts, hats and freebies, didn’t get B all off any other dealer! :D

Regarding help over phone , just make sure they don’t charge you professional advice ,
Yes some ones time has to be paid for , but when you ring about a problem with fert spreader and tractor iso bus not talking to it , ring dealer and get £17 bill for 11 minutes on phone when it’s tractors fault 🤷‍♂️

Better than pricking around at it yourself for 3 or 4 hours and still not getting it to work.
