Some deadweight sellers have to go deadweight they have no choice....
Some deadweight sellers have to send them when they are told to send them, they have no choice......
Some deadweight sellers get penalised for overweight stock, they have no choice....
Some deadweight sellers are are in the pockets of the abattoirs and have to do as they are told, they have no choice....
Some deadweight sellers stock are all owned by the abottoir, so they have no choice!!!!!!

Since the grading system was changed on the dead, and not for the better, i have been disappointed several times, grading to much fat and knocking you down on price. Its a fine line now to get it right on the dead weight, its all stacked in the favor of the abattoir, i,m starting to think the abattoir should send one of there buyers to the farm and buy them off you on the hoof. If they chose one thats to fat, its there problem and the farmer don,t get penalised.

There's pros and cons for both ---it's an age old argument which will be done to death yet again i guess

For me (and it's not everyone's priority) although i use stock markets on occasion i think they are a poor option because;
1) Animal welfare---They extend times animals are in transit/loadings & unloadings /wait around on their way to an abattoir
2) Disease control---every place that animals gather from many different farms and then sometimes disperse from again means an opportunity to spread disease---scab/MV etc

On the plus side they provide good social points for farmers and some do a cracking breakfast

Long may the choice continue

There are only pro and cons to both so long as a significant number of people continue to sell liveweight.
Without out them all the deadweight sellers would be stuffed.

The private marketeers are spoiling store sales now and look at store sales to see what their things are worth ! Takes a man to pay commission so they can value theirs at home mean while spoiling the sale by pulling numbers down and bidders know they don’t have to push to hard as they can have them tomorrow at home somewhere valued on a average price !! You couldn’t make that sh!t up Fuking short sighted idiots imo .

I wouldn't like to dictate to anybody as to where they sell their stock, it's a free world - everyone to his own......

... .BUT, all I will say is ......

We only have one example of when we ALL had to go deadweight and that was when we had foot and mouth.

Anyone remember what happened??

For those with short memories or too young to remember, the feckin deadweight buyers 'stole' a lot of stock as there was no alternative and they just named their price.

Covid could have been exactly the same if the markets had been forced to close.

I rest me case M'lord.

The worst ones sell 1000s lambs fat but take the sh!t and out of spec to the mart lol 😂 to surpress the price per kilo so the dead weight is less 😂 helping pull prices down ! Farmers amazing
I really don't get this at all.
I've just picked lambs for tomorrow. All the ugly ones will go deadweight, all the best are going lw. Someone else was saying the same on here recently. The ugly stuff will sell better dw so why would anyone do what you're suggesting?

They are encouraged by dead weight buyers to market the crap live , you know the last trailer load ...... drag price per kilo down a bit , it’s been going on for decades no denying it .
