Why do adverts load slower than the rest of the page?

I think it must be built into the forum software to make the page jump down one bar after it appears to have loaded, causing the above advert to load instead.
If you derived revenue from ads, you would want as many people to click on them as possible wouldn’t you.

It's forever making me click on the wrong thing when they appear a second after the page loads up!

software serves content higher priority than ads and the ads have more graphics so take longer to load

you would only notice on a slow connection I guess

clicks don't really matter to us, payment is for placement here

google etc use pay per click but interestingly ads on TFF have much better click through ratios than google does, probably because they are all relevant to the audience (we only take ag related ads)

Not begrudging the income, this place doesn’t run for nothing.
The phenomenon described is bloody annoying though.

We try to keep them as un intrusive as we can , necessary evil though as you say. I think the issue described in this thread is more obvious on slower internet connections

you can take the "go ad free" option and get rid of them completely whilst still helping us pay the bills of course ! if 50% of TFF users did this we could get rid of adverts completely

follow this link ,,,,,,
at 92p per week it's less than a 3rd of the cost of a Farmers Weekly subscription (which is FULL) of adverts ! ...... what do you read / value the most ?

Spend more time on here every day than it takes to thumb through a FW tbf.
I'll give it a try, so long as you won't be offended if I discontinue if I don't think it adds value.

I get it, you don't like the Farmers Weekly.

Its the top advert on the phone that bugs me most, along the top of the forum.

I've no issue with Farmers Weekly - just pointing out that at £3.90 / week per copy that is still full of adverts then 92p for an advert free version of TFF is an utter bargain surely !

without subscription we have to have to fund the several hundred thousands its now cost a years to develop and run this website

The choice is there for anyone who would rather not see adds - 92p / week

I notice on a 4g connection. It's mostly when you want to skip forward or back a page and tap the bloody advert just as it shows its true form.

The new app is now very close to release - it should make mobile browsing significantly faster and less reliant upon a good internet connecetion
