Why doesn’t the NFU press office take part onTFF?

I don't debate any of that, I'm simply suggesting why they might not come on here for a gutting.

Like I say, very few farmers are prepared to come on here to open themselves and their lives and jobs come under scrutiny so why would we expect them to volunteer to be gutted by a bunch of folks, most of whom don't even post under their own names.

Because a farmer does not need to. The Nfu are not paying him are they so why should he?

If the Nfu take the annual subscription then they should be answerable but they are not. They just ignore problems and bury their heads in the sand hoping it’ll go away.

Bless you. Jeremy has you in his enthral, like he has most on this forum. The gullible will be gullible I guess. Love Island is another show for the gullible.

Strangely, I have just got back from the pub and was talking to a banker from Courtts Bank and a property developer. When they found our I was a farmer, both mentioned how good Clarkson Farm showed the real side of farming. That's great publicity for free.............. or perhaps they are gullible idiots as well .

I didn't bother discussing Love Island....... even though one of them was from Essex !!

That is true.
Where do you think he gets his information from!!!!!!

Did I criticise who the organ grinder was !! :D

I'm not saying they need to, I'm saying why would anyone volunteer answer to people who won't even give their own name.

So you think it's a good idea for the NFU to go onto random Internet platforms and debate with people who won't identify themselves and may not be members?
I ask as a non NFU member.

You've missed my point.

I mean, of the anonymous posters on here, who's prepared to identify themselves and their business and then come on here to be criticised by the masses of anonymous posters on TFF.

I'm guessing not many
Well, it would be very easy to find out exactly who I am, I don’t hide the fact. Companies House will give you account info and if you want to come around my yard/farm fill your boots

What I find annoying is that the NFU press office/public relations office will not make a statement to TFF as to why they do not post on TFF or engage with TFF.
If they were to post “we do not take part on TFF because many TFF members are so biased against the NFU” , that would be acceptable by me ,and leave it at that. (The trouble is some TFF members may wish to chew on a statement like that and so I can understand why they do not to start to post with TFF members
To completey ignore the existence of TFF , especially now “Janet Hughes of DEFRA” is willing to liaise with TFF members, says a lot about the NFU to me.
That said I think agriculture needs the NFU, TFA,CLA etc etc to get the needs of the agricultural industry across to Government.

I'm no expecting that of you, just the same as I'm not expecting anyone from NFU to come onto some random Internet site to deal with a bunch of people who identify themselves by their porn star names.

Most likely because TFF is of no relevance to anything.
Unless you're a supermarket or merchant wanting to collect data, thoughts, opinion or ideas from farmers

But, they are paid to represent us farmers, they are the voice (supposedly) of our industry, they need to be accountable for their actions or lack of them.
The oft quoted line “we’re talking behind the scenes” just doesn’t cut it anymore.
They are not proactive but instead reactive (I actually think that is being complimentary)
When you ask probing questions of Guy Smith on Twatter, his response is to offer a “chat”, then to divert/deflect and then he just “blocks” you.
The sort of behaviour of a teenager not someone paid for by farmers to represent their interests.
The NFU is wooden/outdated and I cannot even remember one positive thing it has achieved of late for UK agg, it’s an utter shambles and that’s before you even get into the RT Cartel it owns

They don't represent me, as I'm not a member.

A lot of what you say is possibly true, I'm not debating if they are outdated etc. my original point was, why would they come on TFF when pretty much everyone refuses to identify themselves by their name, let alone clarify if they are a farmer or an NFU member.
Considering most threads on public forums offer little in the way of consensus or clarity it is probably just going to end up in chaos.

The PM claims to represent the UK and we pay him to do so, but he doesn't get involved in online exchanges with Joe public.

Janet Hughes is prepared to come on here and debate with people she hasn't a clue about. I MASSIVELY admire and respect her for that.
It was an "ask me anything " session.

It wasn't a " tell me how SFI could be changed or improved "

We have all seen how Defra consultations have gone so far this year, ask for industry opinions, then they do what they like
Animals transport
Farming rules for water
Etc etc.

This is true and while it is a refreshing approach from DEFRA, sadly your assumption that they will do what they have already decided and make it look as if farmers are in favour.
I get the feeling that there is an element of desperation creeping in to those behind SFI as the take up is so small and Janet is the lead person on it and if it doesn't come up with meaningful data from a large enough cross section of farming then it will have failed.

But it will be the farmers fault as they didn't want the money!
