Why don’t machinery manufacturers put the spare parts books on line with PRICE OF PARTS for the products they make?

Absolute nightmare to keep up to date.
Fair comment but the dealers part books and prices must be kept up to date via computer(electronically) , so why can’t there CUSTOMERS WHO KEEP THEM IN BUSINESS, if the customer goes to manufactures web site to see those same updated parts book prices?

Spaldings show all their prices on their website if you have registered and logged in.having said that there are extra discounts when ordering.wish pan Anglia done the same.it can’t be difficult to put prices up,machine mart, sealey and screwfix to name three all do it along with lots of others

Dealers always used to get different prices for parts , depending whether they bought on stock order or as one off. I suspect they also get discounts dependent on volume shifted as well. A price list would be pretty meaningless and would definitely discriminate against the smaller dealer

Is that really true any more? I used to phone round dealers but now find they are all the same price.

For the same reason that loads of machinery dealers still 'price' their machinery 'price on application' 'call' or 'ring' - they want you in the process and on the hook before you know the cost. Spares suppliers that don't openly list prices rely on you being so far into the 'purchase' that you can't be bothered to back out. Carriage charges only added to the basket after registration, name, address, email etc are part of the same process.
