And want a demo with a particular brand of drill to put some. Cover crop in a typical field with 3 different soil types , to see how it goes .
to be told not interested in doing a demo . Can sell all we have
Arrogant wan,-@ers
Maybe but in my experience reps seem to be coming into line with land agents , think a bit too much of themselves and when it suits them.Brings me back to the words of a very experienced ex-colleague of mine, who had spent his career trying to sell to farmers,
"it's amazing how much a farmer wants something, when he knows he can't have it..........."
Had one of them in about yesterday. I was underneath a baler covered in dust. Asked to speak to the decision maker on farm!Watch out here come the Salmon coloured trouser brigade!!!!
Just a follow up to the above.Rang 3 dealers about a Used machine last week see what they had in stock,
Dealer 1 only had one option and not quite the right spec
Dealer 2 had several in stock and reeled off prices and spec over the phone.
dealer 3 boasted they were the biggest in the uk for that type of machine, Told me mine was crap as it was another brand and said he would speak to Richard (whoever he was) to see what they had in an get back to me!
dealer 3 I assumed has a very junior salesman as he wasn’t allowed access to the stock list and also not yet allowed to dial numbers on the phone as he’s not rung back.
went an bought what I wanted off Dealer 2 that afternoon
To be fair I am looking at possibly buying a small new bit of kit and have contacted 3 manufacturers and 3 dealers and all bar one has got back to me with the information I wanted, so maybe not so bad

A bit off topic butHad one of them in about yesterday. I was underneath a baler covered in dust. Asked to speak to the decision maker on farm!
I told him he was away at a meeting all day.
He turned round and left!
One of the advantages of going about looking like a tinker I suppose.
To be fair to the chap the chords were more burgundy than salmon pink.A bit off topic but
The salmon pink trouser wearers haven't made it this far south West yet I don't think? Saying that a feed rep wearing a pair of tweed ones and a matching waistcoat strolled onto the yard last week uninvited.
Now before there's an up roar I understand there is a social circle where tweed apparel is more than acceptable but I'm a rugby club life member and I've only seen tweed on the telly!
Now I'm one of life's gigglers and couldn't help myself, I love messing about when it comes to reps but I couldn't even break out in song with this one!
Yes you are right that you should speak to people like you would want to be spoken to, that is why I always say hello as "manners maketh man" was tought to me at a very young age.To be fair to the chap the chords were more burgundy than salmon pink.
It was more his attitude than his attire that made me lie to him.
I believe you should speak to everyone the same no matter what they look like or do. Was in local dealers store in the morning, the manager of the stores walked through store and didn't speak to any of customers or lads working in store. Doesn't cost anything to say hello, or ask how someones doing.
Branch manager made time to have a chat for ten minutes when I met him on way out of door.

Not at all ,wont deal with them again , and not convinced on the wide row spacing on these strip till drills ,Brings me back to the words of a very experienced ex-colleague of mine, who had spent his career trying to sell to farmers,
