I thought that by us leaving the EU we here in the UK, would shape/create a new agriculture/horticulture support package for food production? All i see thats happened is that large blocks of productive land are by new "incentives" leaving abandoning, stopping food production, that and the massive continued loss of land to new housing, (talk of 300,000) a year, how much land will that swallow up? Tree planting, rewilding, mass solarfarms etc, all this will drive the industry base and the support industries down, while while? the UKs population grows massively? Any one, a child? can see that these two opposing forces will collide very soon? Tears will be shed?

I was involved in a meeting with the Scottish first minister this week where he made it quite clear that agriculture was expected to achieve net zero by 2030. He genuinely had no answer when it was pointed out that to achieve this would mean a huge reduction in food production and in some cases an end to some types of food production. My take on this is that he is being advised by idiots. Agriculture has to be given a derogation because the alternative is starvation.

I remember reading almost 20 years ago that the long term Westminster ideology - regardless of party in power - is to turn the mainland island of Great Britain into Hong Kong.

They genuinely believe the financial sector will keep the country running and everything we 'need' can be bought/imported.
We lost that overnight 25 years ago. They're giving this island away in stages.

Calculate it the right way and we've been better than net zero forever.

It doesn't matter if we (they) gave Hong Kong away or not - that is the 'model' they are copying with this Island we are on
We went there in '92. The economy seemed to depend on all the little people working for little money looking after all the important folk. Oh, and a pint was £5 then! No thanks.

He wants telling to go away and do something else until he can count carbon properly.

Why are we even discussing net zero with them? Until we are properly accounted for they can go fk themselves imo.

What on earth possessed you to think that leaving the EU would shape a new support package for food production, even the pro brexit liars didnt make any such promises :scratchhead:
