You think you can stop the environment agency coming onto private property, much of it can be seen from public land or public rights of way and all of it can be inspected from the air!

There are very few 'people' who have the power to enter private property and even then it is only if they have 'reason to believe' it is necessary.
We can of course be inspected remotely but the country needs to have a serious debate as to whether we want to live in a police state where that is routine.

Remote RPA inspections have been routine for decades!

With your permission as signed on your claim form.

Being monitored without that permission is a whole different matter.

Your farm is already monitored by at least a dozen satellites without your permission, many of them with free and public data sets! With not too much effort with you post code I can pull up a historic record of images of your land, I can pull up near real time images of your land, with a little more effort this data can identify different land uses, crop types, biomass, moisture stress, forecast yields. You are being monitored permission or not!

Where can you get real time images from?

I am honestly not sure any of these schemes are worth the bother. Better to keep your eye on the agricultural ball. £70/ha isn’t much grain yield. Concentrate on maintaining agricultural performance without the added overhead or potentially yield limiting constraints of the scheme and I think we will be OK. I still have enough potential to do better agriculturally to mitigate the loss of BPS. Left myself some headroom. Haven’t really been trying for the last 30 years.😆

The potential for it to go wrong and end up in court in the way mentioned by another forum user would seriously put me off getting involved in any schemes of any sort.

Indeed.

We are all monitored on cctv, anpr and can be located by our phones.
There is a huge difference between the information being available [usually requires permission or court order] and using it for actual policing.
Collecting generic data of traffic volumes, footfalls or habitat quantities would be considered acceptable. Spying on individuals to ensure they are not breaking any rules would not.

Well, from my camera at the roadside or right of way, a drone, a light aircraft or near real time from satellite. The raw data from sentinel2 is freely available, updated every 5 days, it needs image processing though and cloud coverage can limit the usefulness of some images.. If you don't have the tools to process the data there are several companies that already providing the processed data as a service to farmers and others. Some of the false colour NDVI images can be very interesting.
